About 2:30 this morning, I woke up to wonderful heartburn. It was the worst heartburn I've ever had in my life. I tried tons of different things to get it to go away, and nothing worked. Finally, about 3:15 it had calmed down and I was able to fall back asleep. But about 30 minutes ago, it's started again. I'm definitely rethinking my Big Mac I had for lunch.

I've had HORRIBLE heartburn since becoming pregnant. I never had problems before, but found myself waking up in the middle of the night with that awful burning in my throat and chest. I was just using milk to get it to settle down, but have found that taking two Tums is doing the trick. If I get it during the day I take two immediately and then I'll take two more just before bed because I know it will return. What have you been trying?

I tried milk, because that's what my friend told me always worked for her. Yup, didn't for me! I tried propping my head up with an extra pillow, because I've read that works. Yup, didn't work for me! I tried sitting up for awhile, that worked for about 2 minutes. I tried swallowing a lot when I first felt it coming on, that seemed to make it worse. Finally, it just calmed down. The next time it happens, I'm going to try milk again. I hate Tums, but if that's what if I have to end up doing, I'll do it!!!

I'm horrible about taking any kind of medicine, whether it be vitamins, cold medicine, whatever I just get so freaked out anticipating the bad taste. I turned to Tums as a last resort because nothing seemed to hold it off long enough. They have those flavored kind now, which aren't terrible. They aren't tasty by any means, but I can chew them up real quick and take a swig of juice or water and get through it They're worth a shot. Hope you find something that works for you!

me too! saturday at 2 a.m. i woke up to this horrendous heartburn that made me nauseous and i took a rolaid to help. then at 5 a.m. i woke up to it being worse and i stayed sick feeling all day. i think its because i havent' been able to eat fried shrimp since i got preggo and friday night i had some with a baked potatoe and felt fine. then sunday morning i woke up fine. my friend took one zantac a day per her dr and she was fine. i think i might ask about that for me.

Ive gotten heartburn throughout all my pregnancies and during NOT being pregnant. I sleep with a bottle of TUMS next to my bed! I get it all the time while pregnant! It is the worst feeling heartburn!!!

BUY TUMS!!! They help so much and the extra calcium doesnt hurt either!

You can also take Zantac or even get a prescription for previcid during pregancy both of them have always seemed to give me longer results than tums you just have to take it once a day.

I use papaya enzyme for my heartburn. I have been warned against Tums by two different midwives in two different states. They can cause problems in the placenta and the calcium is bound in a way that our bodies can't actually absorb it.

I have it too, but not bad enough to take anything for it yet. I never had it before I got pregnant, and I am definitely thankful for that.

Yeah, papaya enzyme can be gotten at a health food store. I've seen it at grocery stores, too, and I wouldn't be surprised if Wal-Mart type places carry it as well.
