I want to schedule another u/s because I'm not 100% convinced that my little bean is really a girl (tech only saw absence of boy parts, not presence of girl parts!) and also because she was facing my back so we couldn't see her face at all. We pretty much got zero pics identifiable as anything. I'd be happy with 2D, really, but the "clinics" that offer elective u/s pretty much sell the 3D.

Anywho, my question is this: How far along were you ladies when you had/will have a 3D/4D scan? Most all of the places I called want you to wait 'til after 28 weeks to get "cute pics". I will lose my mind if I have to wait that long. I really want to go ahead and do it. I don't care if I get to see "what she looks like" I just want to know all the parts are where they belong and that she's really a girl.

Anyone had one before, say 23 weeks? How did it turn out? Would you recommend it?

Wow! The places here won't even attempt it 'til 19 weeks. Were the 3D images recognizable as baby?

I just had mine today. I had the same Situation. Her leg's were covering her part's so they weren't 100%. My doctor wont give me another Ultrasound till Im In my 3rd Trimester. Im not waiting that long to make sure. So I went to one of those Prenatal peek places and they got great shot's!! It was $100 which I didn't want to to pay but It's worth all the stiff you get. I have a ton of pic's, Video or her moving around and got to see It up on a huge TV for 30 min's...It was fun!! And they truned out pretty good! They said that I should go back when Im 28 weks to see more detail. She said anytime after that her leg's will be so long she'll look sqwished In there. I Totally Recommned It!!! Ill post a pic.

I had my 3d when I was 27 weeks and it wasnt great...someone else I know had one at like 33 weeks and it was awesome! Try calling around to local colleges, or if you have community colleges around...I live in Dallas area and I go to El Centro....its like $30 for a regular u.s or a 3D.

I've never had one. They kind of freak me out for some reason. They just look SOOO real. It's like they aren't supposed to be that clear while still in utero or something.

If after my big U/S we are not sure about hte sex of baby then I will schedule the 3D one for a few weeks after. They start them at like 22 weeks and on. My doctor charges $150 for them with all sorts of stuff that comes with it. I am looking foward to it!!! Either way I will get the 3D just might be sooner than later (depending on 2D u/s).

We're definitely going to get one if our u/s on the 5th isn't clear, we'll wait until we move though so that should put me around the 28 week time frame.

I'm getting one in about 2 hours, so I will update when I get back. I'm just right under the 18 week mark, so hopefully all goes well and I can post some pics for you. The place where I'm going will refund your money or reschedule a different appt if they can't determine the sex and get a good shot of the face after 16 weeks. I'm so excited, I can't wait

*Update*

Here's the pics that DF didn't steal:

And it's a...

BOY!

I think I will get mine done about 29 or 30 weeks. When I was 15 weeks, the u/s tech flipped the switch and went over to 3D, but we still couldn't tell the gender then. here is that pic of face and body at 15 weeks.

Should I be surprised that we get a 3d/4d at no charge at my Dr. ?? I'm guess I should feel lucky---but we get our ultrasound at 22 weeks--So I still got 4 weeks to go!!

I am schedualed for a level 2 u/s (don't know if that's 3d or not, but do know it is very detailed) on Feb. 11th - I will be 21 weeks. Aparently the level two is used when there are multiples or other risk factors. A friend had a 3D u/s at about 22 weeks and hers was very clear!

popping in from the april DDC...

I got one at 26 weeks, the pics were OK but not great ( she was sleeping and snuggled into the placenta) so all we got were face shots. Though we did find out the sex, and they pointed out the girl parts pretty accurately. I hear the suggest you have them at 28 - 34 weeks because after that the baby is too squished in there.

The place I'm going to said they recommend 28 weeks as well but it's if you want to get really good facial shots. They said if you want body shots and to see more of the, then anytime b/t 18 and 24 weeks. After that, the baby has grown so much that you might not get to see as much. I will be 22 weeks this Saturday and that's when my 3/4D us is scheduled for. I'd say anytime before your 24th week is a good time...
