Yea how exciting for you guys!! I bet you are getting soo excited about getting a step closer to your house!

We get our taxes done on the 7th--I'm getting excited! I'm a little nervous because we almost doubled the amt. we made last year--and last year we got $8,000 back.

Anyone know if that makes a difference?!

(sorry didn't mean to take over your post)

if you can estimate how much you made, and how much you paid in, there is a free tax calculator on hrblock.com that is how we figured ours and it was right

Yay, congrats!! DH got his W2 in the mail today, and I'm getting mine done tomorrow. Probably sometime in the next few weeks we'll give the stuff to my MIL to do our taxes, then it's just the waiting game on the check.

Amy, that's actually a good thing. What most people forget is what they get back at tax time is money they overpaid over the course of the year. We make a concentrated effort to owe or get back $100 or less. That way we get the money in Jamie's paycheck over the course of the year. What you get back (unless you get earned income credit or MORE than the entire amount you had deducted) is actually an interest-free loan to the government. They got to use your money (earn interest on it) over the course of the year when you could have used it/earned interest on it yourself.

We're doing our taxes this weekend and have no idea what to expect. This is the first time we'll be filing together. We're probably going to do one of those advancement things instead of waiting for a check to come in the mail since we'll probably be in between places when they go out. Plus we could really use the money now...
