I have 3 children + one on the way (obviously) and am planing on returning to work after I have the new baby. My 3 boys are 5, 4 and alomst 3 and my oldest will be in Kindergarten in Sept, andthe 2 yuongers hopefully will be in pre-k head start (I live in Philly PA) and the new baby will be watched my my aunt * dad in the beginning after materniy leave. Im a secretary and my job carries the health insuracne.
Anyway back to my question, any other mommies with 3 or more kiddies going back to work?
This will only be #2 but I am a working mommy and will have to go back to work after maternity leave. My parents still lived in town when I had Gabe and my mom helped watch him the days Martin worked, he is in retail so he can take his days off whenever, so they watched Gabe and we didn't put him in daycare until he was 10 months. Unfortunately, there is no one here now to help so this baby will have to go right in daycare at 6 weeks!
Gabe is in kindergarten now, will be in first grade when the baby is born. Our school district does 1/2 day kindergarten so he is in a before/after school care program now thru the local YMCA. My in-laws live 5 mins away, we aren't really speaking to them now, there's issues with them...hopefully when the baby is born, and Gabe is in school all day, til 3ish, my FIL can pick up Gabe and watch him till 6 when I get home and then we will only have the one daycare tuition for the baby.....which is an arm and a leg here for a newborn....I am in the suburbs of Philly....daycare isn't cheap....in our area there was only The Goddard School and for Gabe when he was 4 was just under $800 a month!!!! A newborn will be over $1,000!!!!
Just can't afford to lose out on my income. I am a paralegal and make decent money so...until Martin gets promoted to District Manager or we win money off a game show or from the lottery, lol, I need to keep working.

I'm a single mom so I have to work. This will be #2 for me though with my DS soon to be 11. I make good money but with the house note things will be very tight money-wise. If I can clear daycare cost I should be okay for the basics. On a good note...I know I will have a nice support system from my family (who do not know Im preggers yet).
This will only be my first but I'll pretty much be a single parent so unless my SO gets a better paying job I'll have to go back to work asap. I'm not happy about it and SO said he would try and figure something out. I'm not putting money on it though
This is #2 for me and I will be working right up until the last week of my pregnancy, and going back to work a month after baby is born. I work at home though so it wont be so bad I will just have 3 other kids to take care of plus my 2 lol.

This is my third. I work as a consultant from home. I do everything via email and Internet. Sometimes it is hard
to balance because I have no childcare. I can type and breastfeed simultaneously!
This will be my third. I have no choice but to go back to work as I am a business owner. But I love what I do and feel good with my kids' daycare. In fact, I feel better having them at daycare than anywhere else. I plan on returning part time a month after the baby's born, then fulltime 2 weeks later. It worked for the last 2 kids, anyway. Best of luck in your decisions - they're tough!
I work full time and dh doesnt he stays at home with dd because we only have one car. I work in a cellular store, make just enough for us. Couldn't afford daycare, so its better for us for him to stay home. He will be watching baby #2 also. I will return to work after my 6wks are up. I am saving tax money to pay bills during materinity leave, i have no choice but to return.
This will only be #2. I will work after baby, since I'm self employed I'll plan my work schedule around DH's work schedule so I can try to avoid daycare expenses. (Crossing my fingers it works out well)

daycare is what will break us. my mom says we have to pay her at least $50/week/child. which i know is blissfully low, however, at what my hubby is making now I know we won't be able to afford $150/week, thats one of the reasons I might have to take next semester off and hope he gets promoted in that time.
this is #3 for me. i will be going back to work full time after maternity leave. dh will be home with the baby and our dd he does home daycare though.

This is #2 for us too. My MIL watches our 2 1/2 year old who will be starting 1/2 day preschool in the fall. MIL is moving and will not be here to help with the new baby. I am a consultant and bring home the higher income in our family, so I will be returnin to work between 3-4 months. DH works early mornings and is off by noon, so I think we might look into a live out nanny for the mornings.
This is #2 for me and I will definitely return to work. DH has a great job but I am the bread winner in the family. With DS #1 I returned to work after 6 weeks, but depending on how long I can wait to deliver, I would love to be off through the holidays and return after the new year.
This will be #4 for me too. I will be letting my job go with this one. After DD born Oct. 2006 I tried working full time and just could do it. Mind you I have a full blow teenager (alomost 14 years old) and another DD whom is 8 years old. Needless to say there is constant fighting at home with the girlz... rrrrr.... When DD (now one) was born. It all was to much - specailly since she was SUPER over the top cliggy. Actually still is - but getting better. Anyway...I work part time. Well 6 hours a day....and that seemed to work for me.
Besides I dont know where you live. But, infant care in my area is abou 900- 1100 a month. My income would barely cover it. This is my last one - getting my tubes tied with c-section - so I staying home with this one!
Well ummm soon as I tell my hubby that Im prego! But, that is another story. LOL
Good luck. My advise is - if you can. Stay home with the kids....you'll have more sucessful children. Which makes it totally worth it in the end! Remember....when you pass on you wont be remember for what a super worker you where. You'll be remember as a super mother.

I understand it's your advice/opinion but please let's not start the debate of a SAHM compared to a full-time working mom. If we could afford it, I would love to stay home. We can't. I make good money so if I was to quit, even with not having to spend money on daycare, we would be losing money, not to mention I am due for a raise in April as well as a promotion so more money.
My son has been in daycare since he was 10 months and he turned out wonderful!!!! He learned alot from being in school and has great social skills, isn't afraid to be away from us etc. I wouldn't say SAHM have more successful kids, my son is very successful and I work.
I am a super mother!!! I just need to work as well, it doesn't make me less of a great mom because I contribute to our household income, if I didn't, we wouldn't have the house we do, couldn't afford to have two cars, couldn't afford to get my son the extra's he likes, couldn't afford to go on vacations, etc. I think my son enjoys those things as well and has never complained in the past before starting kindergarten that he wishes mommy was home with him. He enjoyed going to daycare to see his friends.
Having to juggle a full-time job, taking and picking up Gabe from school, cooking dinner, getting homework started, cleaning up the house, getting Gabe to bed, etc makes me a great super mom!!!!
People do what works for them and their family, it's different for everyone!

I have been thinking very hard as to what I can do so I dont have to go back to work, but I also carry the health insurance so I am really thinking I will have no choice. I wish there was something I could think of or do from home. But I just dont know yet.
