Well, I knew something bad was going to happen! Yet again today, I had NO help at work. I ran around like crazy this morning, and finally starting having my first contractions around lunch time. We waited until about 3, and I put myself on the monitor. Contractions every 2 minutes.
We did a fetal fibronectin...still waiting for it to come back. The worse part? I'm 50 % effaced already--and this is my first baby. I had the option to go to L&D or to go home on strict bed rest. DUH! I'm home. If the FFN comes back positive, I have to go back to the hospital. If negative, I will stay home and monitor my contractions. IF they go away with bed rest, I'll potentially be allowed to return to work on Monday, but only to SIT! If they start back up, then NO MORE WORK. LOL!
My midwife is really upset. DH is beyond LIVID. We all know why this started to happen....because of the whole work situation. It's rediculous. So anyway...here I am. It's going to be a loooooong weekend! That of course, is assuming I don't have to go to L&D tonight.
Yikes! I sure hope the test comes back okay! I think you should stay home and rest until baby gets here really! Hopefully the contractions will not start up again and you make it to at least 36 weeks.
I agree that you should stay on bedrest until delivery. Parker needs more time in there. I can't believe that your boss still didn't give you any help. I hope those contractions stay away!!!

They LOST my fetal fibronectin! Of all people! How ironic! My doctor is FURIOUS. It's a really long story, but apparently it's floating around somewhere there at the hospital. If they don't find it, I'll go back to work tomorrow to have another done. Poo.
wow momma, sounds like you got alot going on... TAKE IT EASY let lil miss parker keep baking for awhile...work will still be there after you have her I had the same type of stress issues with my job and it got so bad between DH & I that i ended having to quit. anyway keep us updated!

Forgive my ignorance - what is a FFN? What are they looking for?
I am so sorry - my oh my - my DH would totally flip out if my work put the baby/me in any danger of delivering early....
PLEASE REST - keep us posted - I can't believe they lost your test...grrrr...[/b]
Simply put, a FFN is a test to see if you're possibly in danger of going into labor in the next two weeks. It's not a definite thing--you can get a positive after getting a negative, and you can have a positive and not go into labor. It's just a standard test that is run when you're at risk of going pre-term and you're having signs/symptoms.
Thanks ladies! I'm pretty sure I know at this point what happened to the specimen. Stinks though. They are VERY lucky that it happened to an employee and not a random patient. But still, I'm very very upset. I'm pretty stressed out, and this isn't helping. I'm sure DH will say a thing or two tomorrow when we have to go back.
I hope that your FFN comes back negative, when they stop being so incompetant and get a chance to analyze it. I also hope that resting helps keep Parker in there baking! I can't believe your boss didn't get you help! Working in an OB/GYN's office you'd think she'd realize the importance of listening to the midwife and getting you a helper like everyone else has. Does she realize that she's a large part of your problem right now? GRRRRRR....
Oh trust me.....if we have to go in today for another test....DH will probably let her know exactly how he feels! I am very tempted to write the practice CEO a letter stating what happened......might do that if I have to spend more time here than I was expecting.
