I've never had an u/s around this time, but it seems like lots of you are/have. Around 14ish weeks, how much acrobatics do you see? I'm just curious because last night I heard the hb immediately on the left side, straight down, from the top of my uterus to the bottom. Then I moved before the hb did and I found a/the hb over in the right bottom corner. I know its possible that the baby beat me there, but I'm just curious how many of you have seen the baby move that much that quickly.

Am I driving anyone crazy yet?

Oh yeah, and the hb(s) was nice and strong, so I don't think the second one I heard was a distant echo or anything. One was 145 and one was 155.

You're going to have to get an u/s woman so we can figure out if there's one or two in there!

I know huh? I waver back and forth between wanting one and not wanting one, but I told dh in the beginning that I didn't want one and he's freaking hold me to it! Doesn't he know you can't hold an expectant mother to something?! But we're going to see my best friend in a little over a month, and her FIL is the head doctor over there and she said she's going to "make" us get an u/s while we're there.

Wouldn't he want to know for the home birth if he's going to have to catch 1 or 2? I would think that would be an important piece of info!

I know huh? I guess he either thinks we'll just prepare for two, or we'll figure out that there is only one if I'm not bigger than usual and only hear one hb when I'm further along. I doubt my bf will be able to talk him into the u/s either, he is STUBBORN! Maybe thats where Ele gets it from.

I am such a dork though, I watched like 10 u/s videos on youtube this morning to see if I could find babies moving around as much as would have been necessary to hear what we heard last night and I didn't see any baby moving THAT much. Obviously I'm not saying it isn't possible, but I'll keep looking! I think Trupe is going to have me committed.

My bean was moving a lot. When I went on the 3rd for my check up, the same thing happened the MW would find the heartbeat and then it would move.

What are you using to hear the hb? I've never found anything that works at home.

I've got a doppler, and it actually has a small wand, so I don't think the scope is very broad on it.

I've seen some pretty active babies on the videos, but none that went from vertical to horizontal or vice versa.

If it is twins, you might not get any bigger than with a singleton. we had a lady in our town that had twins before u/s came out. her doctor never heard two heart beats and she didn't get any bigger with that pregnancy than her others. she was totally surprised when she had twins. they had been laying on top of each other vertically and so one hid the other one and kept the heartbeat from being heard the entire pregnancy. both babies were fine though and are now in their early forties.

eta: because of the surprise and no planning ahead, doctor was nice enough to give them a huge discount on the birth. he was as shocked as mom and dad.

My baby was moving around alot when I had my u/s at 12 weeks. But he was asleep when we did the NT screen at 12w5d. At 12w he looked like he was dancing and swimming around. Very cute to see.

How interesting Michele! Thats what happened with my gma. My mom was hiding in there behind her brother. During the delivery they were like "uh, Mrs. ____ , you're not done yet!" They'll be 48 this year. I'm not sure if the doctor ever listened to the hb or not with that pregnancy.

Thats what we think is happening too, if there are twins. Because we don't hear a different hb everytime...just like every other or every two times we listen will we catch a hb with a different bpm.

it will be interesting to find out. i say get the u/s just to see for sure. I would have a hard time waiting it out if you had an inkling that there might be twins. If your friend can swing you one, I say take her up on it. I would if it were me.

Yeah, I just need to convince Trupe...I keep wavering myself though. I don't know. I'll be 20-21 weeks when we go there so we may know more by then anyways.

I think I'd have to go for the u/s even if DH didn't want me to or didn't want to be there. I'd HAVE to know!

I never thought to youtube ultrasounds before. I'm off to do that now!
