First Appointment Today

I had my first OB appointment today & everything went really well. They took almost 10 tubes of blood

weighed me, did a pap smear, gave me some books to read, and gave me new EDD of July 21st. Also he told me that it is now required to have early U/S sound done to check for down syndrome, I'll have another U/S at 12 weeks, and as he called it my big U/S at 18 weeks. I love my doctor so much, he's really down to earth & completely could see that I was terrified. I think today it really hit me that I'm going to be a mother in like 7.5 months. Well I have another appointment for my early U/S next week on the 12th

and my next OB appointment is scheduled for the 30th. All in all everything went well today

OMG how are you still functioning after 10 tubes of blood?! Yikes! I didn't know about the ultrasound to test for downs syndrome... that's interesting. I'm glad everything went well for you!! And yes you are going to be a mommy soon!!

10 tubes of BLOOD???? Jeez!! I only had to give 4 with Ashlyn!!! WOW!

Wow 10 is a lot. I didn't have that much done either. (well haven't with this one yet) Glad everything is doing well though!!
Are you over 35? You don't look it, but I know they do more stuff when you are.

Everything was great, all & all I felt great leaving there. I don't know why they took so much blood, I'm only 25 so I know I wouldn't be considered high risk or anything because of my age. My doctor said that the down syndrome test use to be an option but now it mandated to have it down before 12 weeks via U/S . I'm excited but kind of curious being that none of you other ladies have had so much blood drawn on your first appointment & not required to take an U/S for downs so early. I guess that should be a question I ask at my next visit, he told me to have a list of questions ready for him, because today I just went blank soon as he asked me if I had any questions.
