I've decided that today I'm in the 2nd trimester...the way I think about it is you divide 40 by 3 and you get 13.3333...days. So I'm 13 weeks 4 days today so I've decided that that is the first day of the 2nd trimester! I'm not getting too happy about it yet though but I will once I hear my baby's heartbeat on Friday morning with the doppler at my appointment.

Yeah for being in the second trimester. I completly understand How nervous you are. After hearing the heartbeat on all three ultrasounds I am still nervous as heck.. I think I get more nervous the closer it comes to my appointment., . Are you having a ultrasound on the 20th too ??

yay! i will be in my 2nd trimester Saturday.....I am just going by what this website said when I mapped out my trimesters. It said I will start t2 on Feb. 21. I am so anxious to be there so I can't wait!!

I have been wondering how baby is doing in there since I was gone for so long - have you stopped spotting?

I've heard the heartbeat on all 3 ultrasounds I've had too but after all of the spotting and everything I'm so scared I won't hear it on Friday(I'll be 14 weeks exactly so it should be heard with the doppler). No according to my midwife I don't get any more ultrasounds because of my isurance which I have found out since my last chat with her that that is BS! Any ultrasound that is coded as medically necessary will be covered and I would think that the 20 week scan is medically necessary so if she doesn't code it as that I'll be finding another doctor.

Sweetie, if you keep having spotting you can be coded for a covered u/s. It kinda sounds to me like you might want to find a new Dr anyway.

I want to beat the crap outa your doctor already! Your 20 week scan IS medically allowed, a basic one. There are more detailed ones that are done that some insurances aren't covering yet. But you can atleast get the one that checks the heart for defects, that's the basic 20 week one.

UGh! Anyway, I am glad the bleeding has stopped! Listen, I worry about not hearing my baby's heartbeat for my U/S on the 27th, and I am not even spotting! I am even still feeling movement, or what I am thinking is still movement, and I am still worried!

Hang in there, Friday will be here before you know it!

Yay for 2nd trimester!

You need a new doc asap, IMO. They've been ridiculous to you all along. A 20-week anatomy/gender u/s is standard and necessary in this day an age. If they're fighting you about that now, I can't imagine what they'll try when you give birth. Run while you can!

That's true. I'm hoping to find one that's somewhat ok around here since I havn't heard very many good things about the ones in CT that my insurance allows.

Some nurses are just plain mean. Maybe she thinks you're pretending to spot to just get more US. Bottom line, I would ask to talk to the doctor if she is rude to you again or tells you something incorrect. The office manager may also be able to help if the doctor won't call you back. Hopefully you won't need it though until your official BIG US!
