Gee, I hope you didn't get all excited like I did. I didn't find out the gender. The tech said that everything wasn't formed enough yet for the full diagnostic u/s, so I will still be getting my regularly scheduled one on March 11. Hopefully we'll find out the gender then. And of course, the tech couldn't really tell me everything she saw, but before I left she said that she didn't see anything that I really needed to worry about. I'll hear something from my doctor in the next week I guess. But I got some pictures yay! Heart rate was 162. For a minute I thought I counted 5 fingers minus the thumb, and I almost freaked thinking there were 6 fingers on one hand, but then I realized it was the foot! The baby was moving around but seemed to stay in the fetal position most of the time, so maybe that's why she never asked if I wanted to know the gender. I decided not to ask either since I was all by my lonesome. Mark wasn't in the room when I found out Kira was a girl, so I felt bad that he wasn't going to be with me for this one either. Let's hope baby cooperates when March 11 comes around! Looks like I'm on schedule to have just as many u/s with this one as I did with Kira.

I'm confused, my appointment is tomorrow and I am 17 weeks. The tech told you that everything is not formed yet? hmmmm Our EDD is only a day apart.

I know!!! It pisses me off that some have the u/s at 18 weeks or earlier, but here they schedule them for 20-22 weeks! I wonder if it has something to do with the u/s machine? Maybe some machines are better at picking up everything. We live in a very small city, with only one place that can do u/s (other than the hospital). Or could it have something to do with the doctor... maybe some don't require as many details? I know the u/s I had with Kira lasted a full hour. The tech got so many freaking different measurements, I was almost getting bored, except for the fact I was getting to see my bean move around.

You may have something with your statement about the machine. I do recall my doc office saying the reason why they are setting me up with Duke Med for my Level I and Level II is because of their high tech equipment and great techs. They expressed that they would be able to detect gender.

I came home today and asked hubby "they did tell us we would get the gender tomorrow right" because I remember your post and told him.

sorry you have to wait a few weeks. I'm happy your baby is healthy!!

Awe! I'm sorry you couldn't tell the gender or get more details but I'm happy for you that your baby is healthy. Good luck with your next one.
