I was wondering, my friend is 16-18 weeks pregnant.
As much as i love the girl she is a complainer, complains about everything and needs attention. I have a question for the BTDT mothers....
Is it possible at 16 weeks to find out that your baby died due to the umbilical cord wrapping around the neck and suffocating? I have heard of babies dying that way at 7 months along, but how would they know that, that was the way the baby died?
I really want to believe her but something smells fishy
oh and i guess a resident at her work fell on her 24 hrs prior to her calling the dr. for a apt.

anything is possible, but i don't think that typically happens until later in the pregnancy when the cord is longer. i could be wrong though, i've just never heard of happening

I don't see why it couldn't happen. I know the cord can be wrapped that early, so I don't see why it's not possible for it to choke them.

I'm pretty sure it can happen at that point. They might be able to tell through U/S. Since she's 16 weeks she'd have to deliver the baby and they'd be able to tell then as well.

If that's true I'm very sorry for your friend.

Hmm I've never heard of that but I suppose anything is possible *shrugs* Does she think her baby died? If something feels off I would be skeptical though, trust your instincts *hugs*

I m/c at 12 weeks and definatly was in the mood physically or emotionally to be out drinking the next day. I was a little sore for a couple of days.

But yeah, what is she saying? That her baby died, that she thinks it did? She'd have to deliver.

she didn't say anything about delivering, she was back at the computer today, i'm not doubting she was prego, but if you didn't deliver and just had a d&c there is no way the doc. would know for sure that is the how it happened

i know that my friend delivered her stillborn child at 7 months along and that is when they found out the cord was wrapped around his neck, but at 18 weeks your baby isn't that big right?
