I need to start the process of going part time next school year. I can't tell you how much this scares me. Not only will my pay be cut, but so will my benefits. Dh doesn't have employee benefits. We have saved for this, but it's still frightening.
I sent an email to my principal asking to meet to discuss my employment at the school next year. If she doesn't agree to me doing job share, then I have to leave the school. I am going to be bummed. Even though I teach in a bad area, I love "the girls". The girls are the ladies I eat lunch with everyday.
Of course, I may not even have a job next year as many teachers are going to be laid off due to budget cuts.
Hopefully it will work out that I wouldn't have to go part time until after the delivery, maternity leave, and sick time leave I have saved up. That way I would keep my benefits. I would get partial benefits if I cut my work load to 60%.
Dh and I really need those benefits as he is an amputee and goes to a pain specialist.
Thank you all. I don't know why I am so scared. Dh and I have been planning and saving for this.
