Well I know I have a horrible last name to work with. Buddenbaum...so I try to keep the names simple and if they are going to be long names we have to think of easy names for them to work with in school.

So we have William picked out for a boy, but he will be called Will. I think that is why I have issue with girl names. What really is horrible I went from a 4 letter last name to that!

Does anyone else have this issue?

We have a fairly short last name so that isn't a problem but I can understand why you'd want a shorter first name. You have plenty of time so I'm sure you'll come up with something!

Our last name is really short - one syllable. So shorter first names don't sound amazing with our ln.

My Dh is William so that is also what I want for a boy's name.

My last name is simple...just two syllables.

Our last name is Lolli - go ahead - say it...

I went from Schaefer to Lolli... I loved the name Lilly or Lillian - but NOT with Lolli! So we named our dog Lilly.

I hate my married name. not because its bad. Its Castro. The problem I have is people automatticly assume I'm hispanic and I'm not. They will start speaking spanish to me and I don't understand a word they are saying. My husband is Mexican. Technically thats not his real last name. Its his former stepdads. he wants to change it to his real dads last name. Thats worse cause i don't know how to spell it. I think its Quiroz. its italian origin.

yea that is me all the way lol, my name is Cherie Zacharkiw, but i hope it wont stop me from choosing an unusual or longer name if i like one. i have to always spell BOTH my first and last name, its not a big deal. we should do a poll on who has the craziest last name lol...zacharkiw or buddenbaum, thats a tough choice

I've got a simple and fairly common last name, Sloan. My Maiden name was Burr... I HATED it. I always got the "Brrr" jokes.

I went from Fisher.. which anything will go with

to Schoberl (sure-bell), which NO ONE CAN PRONOUNCE, and nothing sounds 'pretty' with, so I pretty much gave up on getting things to blend well with it

I will be married before this little one arrives and my DF's last name starts with a "S". So I just try to come up with first and middle names that don't end in S. That didn't work out with my son though but that's because he has his daddy's middle name for his middle name.

Our last name starts with a G. So other G names don't quite sound right with them.

Like I LOVE grace, but it sounds odd.

I do try to watch what the initials may spell out though LOL
