I know for people who go overdue it is like they are a ticking time bomb. But how long will your dr let you go before they induce?

I'm just asking because I know my mom has told me she was almost a month overdue with my sister and they would not induce her. And this one girl who just had a baby was due on February 13th and she refused to go to the dr to be induced or anything because she wanted a home and natural birth and finally on March 9th she broke down and went to the dr and had to have a c-section. I thought they didn't let you go past 2 weeks because I thought the baby went into distress. But I don't know...

What does your dr do when you go overdue?

If someone is that far overdue it's very likely their dates were off!

My Dr with DS wouldn't really do anything until you were at least a week overdue. I don't know how the new Dr works in that aspect because I haven't been there yet.

My doctor says no more than a week... and usually she won't even go that long (fine with me!)

My previous doctor would have induced me at a week and a half overdue.

My current doctor doesn't like to have 2nd time moms go more than a week over and she too usually offers to induce 2nd time moms at 39 weeks.

The latest a doctor should let you go over is 42 weeks because the placenta starts to fail after that time and the risks increase greatly then.

See she refused a dr and would not go at all. So, she was the reason she wasn't induced. Couldn't they stripe your membranes and let you have a home birth? I'm just confused.

I'm not really sure. The medical profession is not always happy about the idea of home births so I'm not sure they would have cooperated. Perhaps if she had a midwife they would have been able to help her have a home birth??

I do know that stripping membranes can help you go into labor but it doesn't always work. There was a girl in my DDC who had her membranes stripped twice and still didn't go into labor. I felt very bad for her.

cohen was 6 days late, and i saw the doc the day i went into labor (wednesday). he was planning on inducing the next monday if i didn't have the baby by then, but he was pretty sure i was in labor at that point. that doctor wasn't the greatest...i think he should have done a measurement u/s because i was HUGE. he wouldn't ever give me a guess on how big the baby would be despite many attempts; he was over 9 1/2 and they were talking c-section after an hour and half of pushing (thank goodness the vacuum helped) this is a pic right before going to the hospital, don't mind the nastiness haha.

the newdoc will monitor me more closely towards the end

I dont think my doc would let me go past 2 weeks.. I know they do stress tests to see how the baby is doing if you dont want to be induced.. Dates can be off and what not.

I on the other hand will hopefully deliver early. I had braylin a week early and she was 10lbs6oz!!!!

2 weeks is the absolute max here. I was 9 days past due with DD but I had GBS and I thought I was leaking, so the dr induced me.

I'm not sure what my doctors practices are, but I am willing to let myself go 1-2 weeks overdue WITH monitoring (to make sure there is no distress) before I induce. I figure she can't force me to do anything... I know I'll be miserable all that time, but I'm going to try and do everything in my power not to induce. The thought of picotin in my system just makes me want to vomit. Of course, if there were ever anything wrong with the baby I wouldn't hesitate for a second.

With dd I was 6 days overdue and they wanted me to wait another week. I told them no. So they induced. Depending on how your pregnancy goes will determine if the induce or not. it kinda sucks.

My previous doctor would let you go to 42 weeks.

The new docs... I dunno yet.
