I asked my Midwife on my first visit about sushi, fish, and shrimp and she said all is ok as long as it is properly cooked. So no Raw fish (sushi). I also try and see ware the seafood I eat is coming from. I avoid fish from China, they don't seem to care much if they kill any one with lead or mercury.
Bonus seafood has Omeg-3 which is GREAT for the baby's brain.

Definitely a myth.
Shrimp is fine but just like everything else you shouldn't over do it.

A shrimp story:
The night I went into labor with DS I had went to Red Lobster with DH and his parents to celebrate my birthday and FIL's birthday. I had shrimp and after a while I was getting some cramps in my back. I figured I was just getting uncomfortable from the way I was sitting. We went home and my back still hurt but nothing too bad. A little while later I went to the bathroom and my water broke! I've always wondered if it was the shrimp that did it!

Your arms have nothing to do with the umbilical cord. If you say that comment outloud it just sounds stupid.
Shrimp is fine.

Shrimp is fine. My doc said limit sea food in general to 12oz a week. Of course no no to those certain fish, shark, swordfish and whatnot. YUCK
