I asked my Midwife on my first visit about sushi, fish, and shrimp and she said all is ok as long as it is properly cooked. So no Raw fish (sushi). I also try and see ware the seafood I eat is coming from. I avoid fish from China, they don't seem to care much if they kill any one with lead or mercury.
Bonus seafood has Omeg-3 which is GREAT for the baby's brain.
Definitely a myth.
Shrimp is fine but just like everything else you shouldn't over do it.
A shrimp story:
The night I went into labor with DS I had went to Red Lobster with DH and his parents to celebrate my birthday and FIL's birthday. I had shrimp and after a while I was getting some cramps in my back. I figured I was just getting uncomfortable from the way I was sitting. We went home and my back still hurt but nothing too bad. A little while later I went to the bathroom and my water broke! I've always wondered if it was the shrimp that did it!
