Benni is one of my hens. Poor thing has been miserable. She has a bump under her eyelid that won't go away. DH said it was bigger today and that she is having trouble blinking. Luckily, there is a vet near here that takes in all animals except horses and cattle. Hopefully this is something that can be cured with antibiotics. I have an appt in about an hour and a 1/2.
The vet couldn't give a definite prognosis. He gave her an injection and prescribed antibiotics for 7 days. If that doesn't work, then I need to take her back. It may be an abcess or even a tumor. If it's an abcess, it can be drained. If it's a tumor, nothing can be done.
The vet visit wound up costing more than what we paid for her, but, like DH said, we need to figure out what's wrong.
BTW - everyone at the office thought she was just the cutest and funniest thing. One lady said that she is very expressive and it sounded like Benni was talking to me after the injection. Poor thing just sat on my lap after while I petted her.

hens... as in chickens???? hope the appt. goes well.
Yep...in addition to my 3 parrots, I have 2 chickens. You wouldn't think of chickens as pets, but you do become attached to them. They act like dogs, following Dh and I around the yard and even sit at the sliding door.
