I am torn on what to do! I found out there's a 4d place NEAR my house (not the 45 minutes i'd need to drive to go to the one I have an appt at). I don't know when their next avail. appt is.. but if it's sooner, I don't know whether to take it or not.

plus: it's cheaper, and closer.. seems like you get more for your money
minus: I already have an appt at the other one, and it's across the water and a few people over on that side I think wanted to come (no guarantees they'd show though. A few of these same people bailed on my appt when I was preggo with Holden). If I have the appt here, it's closer to some family and friends- but farther for the ones near the original place.

WHAT TO DO?!?!?!?
Pick the one more convenient for me, and risk the people on the other side of the water not coming to it? Or make the long drive, with a 19 month old, when those people might not show and there's a place closer?

This is all assuming the studio near me even has anything avail. that's better at such short notice.

Easy - call the place near you and see when you can get an appointment. I wouldn't worry about the other people!

I shouldn't feel bad, but I made the appt so long ago that i've been spreading it around like wildfire and would feel bad canceling, not so much with the studio, but everyone i've told. I'm sure the people here wouldn't mind, but I have one friend who is super amped to go who lives over there.

Don't know what I'd do... Are they both studios? The appointment you have isn't for medical diagnostics, right? Cuz then I'd keep the med appt so they can check everything out. If it's more of the "photo shoot" I'd see what the options are at both places... KUP

No no, the anatomy/gender scan my dr set up isn't until May.. at a place I loathe with people who treat me like crap and can't bring any family other than Thomas, which is why I decided to go to an outside 4d studio in the first place

both places i'm looking at are for entertainment only (and a peek at the goods, of course)

I'd go with the one that's closer to you. If other people are put out then its their issue not yours.

I want LOTS of people at mine

At my regular OB appointments, I prefer just me (and Thomas if he can come, Holden gets into too much crap), but for the really cool 4d stuff it's fun to have people around to bask in the cute babyness.

And I figure, if it's a boy, I won't totally go into hysterics if there's lots of people around

I say do what is best for YOU first and foremost and hopefully others will make it but if they don't then so be it. Maybe you can make duplicates of the u/s to send them or else see if you can record the u/s with a dvd/cd to make copies of and send.

Good luck and KUP on what you decide to do!

if they other people really are "pumped" then they'll come wherever, otherwise that'll just make for a convenient excuse when they were planning on bailing anyway. Do whats best for you! You're the one lugging a toddler around (and a baby lol)!

I agree with jhappy36 and *meg*. Do what is most convenient for you. If your friends and fam on the other side of the water are that excited then they'll come, if they really can't make it then you still have some fam on your side of the water so it is still fun in the room, plus you can make the others a cd of the u/s.

I would pick closer. Are you getting a video done? You can always show your friends the video.

the place closer to us throws IN a dvd and cd!

the place farther just does a cd until you're farther along, and then that u/s is twice as much

i've decided if I can GET the appointment at the one close by, i'm taking it and running! and hopefully it will be a more convenient appointment

5:30pm on a wednesday, 45 minutes away was the best I could get at the farther one. better than daytime but during rush hour. yuck

when do you plan to go??

I had one with bella over in MD or was it in PA?? LOL I can't remember now.

anyways..... I was like 26 weeks, but if I was to do it again I would wait till I was at least 30 weeks LOL

Thats just me... but in that case I would end up going with the cheaper.

the 4d studio is basically for early gender determination and they throw in the 4d for giggles this early. Holden looked pretty cute at 16 weeks though:

This isn't my first time around, I went twice with Holden. At 32 weeks I was WAY too far along and he was so smooshed against my uterine wall we had trouble getting any good pictures. I plan on going at around 29 weeks as well.

I'm hoping to get an appointment this week/weekend or next week. My standing appointment at the farther away studio is next Wednesday

I called the studio near me this morning and they only had ONE appointment open until mid-May! And only due to a cancellation

Of course I snatched it up, guess when it is?

THIS WEDNESDAY!!!

2 days until I find out the gender of my bean! HOLY CRAP!

I am now officially in freak out mode!

I am praying to all that is holy for a little girl. I haven't had a single baby dream or any 'feeling' about this pregnancy so I have no idea!
