Lets see if I can remember. I had the baby's coming home outfit, socks, a towel, shampoo, soap, a change of clothes (I wore the hospital gown for the 3 days I was in the hospital), tooth brush, toothe paste, wipes and diapers (I didn't know they supplied that for you). i know there was more stuff but I don't remember that was a long time ago.

Ummm lets see...
Towel
Soap
Hair care products
Makeup
A cute outfit to leave in
A nightgown or two
Underwear
Socks
Flip Flops for shower
A tight sports bra...just in case my milk decides to come in
cellphone and charger
books/magazines...maybe laptop this time...i was sooo bored and lonely once all my visitors left. DS donor wasn't there so after my parents and my best friend left it was just me and a baby.

They supplied me with a nightgown, pads, icepads(life savers..whew), a water bottle...for ummm vaginal care. They give baby diapers, formula (if formula feeding)...its the individual bottles with disposable nipples, tshirts. I don't think he had on booties but he did have a little hat. And they gave him a paci.

Don't forget a big bag to put all the stuff u accumulate while you are in the hospital. I took pretty much whatever they gave me that I didn't use up.

LOL - last time, I had NOTHING. I mean just me and hubby with my parents on the way - I was sent from a routine 38 week appointment straight to the hospital for inducing - which turned into an emergency c section after I failed a bio profile u/s! One thing that was nice to have was a Nintendo DS - I bought one because I was on bedrest for the latter part of my pregnancy and it was nice to play in bed. I swear I didn't sleep the entire time I was in the hospital after birth, so I played Mario for hours, LOL.

THIS time I will be prepared:
Camera (duh)
my own towels
toiletries
my own clothing
the DS again
iPod
sleep sacks for baby
MAKEUP - DH forgot mine and I look like crap in all my pictures in the hospital LOL

HD Video Camera - I don't think I want the birth to be recorded in HD.. lol It will be used when the baby is born.. lol
SLR Digital Camera
Baby Quilt
Baby outfit for hospital picture
Baby coming home out fit
Baby book so I can get the foot and hand print stamped in it while I'm at the hospital
For Me: Shampoo/Conditioner, Soap, lotion, Femine Pads, Nursing Bra, undies, Night gown, slippers, lip balm, my own prenatal vitamins.

I think this is about it.. I brought a ton of stuff last time and this time I'll just be bringing what I need..

My bag:
Camera
Video Camera
several nightgowns
robe
hairbands
comfy clothes to come home in
my cell phone and my laptop

Baby bag:
sleepers
socks
coming home outfit
scratch mitties

For first time Mama's.... the hospital supplies diapers and wipes. Also anything in the bassinet, YOU TAKE WITH YOU! Most don't realize that the first time. But, they will charge your insurance for it anyway, if it's in the bassinet, they can't use it for another baby, so take it all with you. Onesies, blankets, diapers, wipes, formula, hats... take it all.

It was nice to hear all of this! I wrote it all down for myself since this is my first time ...

I have a weird question though, some of you may feel uncomfortable answering ... but what exactly are the pads for? I'm sorry this is prob a stupid question, do you bleed a lot after birth? I'm sorry, I like to know details so I know what to expect, I can't help it!

Lol Yes you bleed, it's like a 3-6 week long period. No tampons allowed!

They do provide you with a lot there but you'll want any items that would make you more comfortable. Like some women prefer their own pillow.

I'll pack
Nightgown that zips up the front for easy nursing
Sports bra in case milk comes in
Nursing pads because I don't like the ones the hospital gives
socks
underwear
shorts (I like to wear them under my nightgown or hospital gown)
Ponytail holder, brush and my own shampoo and conditioner
Toothbrush and toothpaste (they give you some but I prefer my own)
Cell phone and charger
Camera
Picture of Ben to focus on
Ipod
Book in case I have trouble sleeping at night

For Baby
Sleepers
socks
A few outfits in newborn and preemie sizes (DS was almost 8lbs but newborn stuff was huge!)
Special blanket and stuffed animal
Boppy pillow (makes BF soooooo much more comfortable)

Hmmm, it's been like 8 years since I did this.

Here's what I'm thinking:
my favorite music cd (they have stereos in the suites)
a movie or 2 ( i DO labor for like 20 hrs)
camera
phone
comfy socks
bathroom stuff
diaper bag (w/ a few diapers and baby's outift)
my comfy squishy robe
a pad or 2
boppy pillow
undies...

I like how my list is so random

I'm sure I'll add on but that's all my preggo brain can think of right now.

A lot less this time!!

for me:
toiletries (shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, body wash, deodorant)
change of clothes for going home along with a pair of ratty old underwear (I am a huge hospital-provided mesh panties fan!) and a nursing bra (bringing nursing pads but probably won't need them yet)
hair brush
change for vending machines for snacks for dh
book, pencil, paper
digital camera with battery charger and extra memory card and cellphone

for baby:
coming home outfit in premie and newborn (she weighed 8 1/2 lbs and premie was even big on her)
pretty baby blanket for background of hospital photos
car seat with cover for cold weather (if needed)
sleepers in premie and newborn for hospital
spit up rag

Last time we lived an hour from the hospital, this time we will live only a few minutes so it will be easy to run home and grab anything we forget.

camera
bath stuff (soap, hair wash, razor, bring it all, they won't have any for you!!)
change of clothes
makeup (yes.. i'm one of THOSE types)
snacks
WARM SOCKS (my friend brought these for me and they were lifesavers)
underwear you don't mind ruining for the ride home if you don't plan on wearing the mesh undies
phone charger
laptop & charger
lots of change for vending machines (though my hospital gives you as much free soda as you can drink, it was fabulous)

there's much more i'm forgetting

oh- and we were told NOT to take the hospital blankets or onesies. The hats & formula were ours, the rest, no. Depends on your hospital I guess. I took the onesie anyways.

Don't forget things for DH and other support people for while you are in labor. That way they don't have to leave you in order to get anything.

LOL...I don't think I knew that either with #1. My time after I had DS was hard. I guess just my body coming back together. Maybe we should do a topic on that. I'll start one.

Thanks for all the tips and info BTDT mommies!

By no means is this my final list, but as of right now this is what I plan on bringing:

For me and DH:
- PJ's for after L&D (though I'll probably just wear the hospital gown, still, I love my PJ's and may decide to wear them even if they will get stained with blood)
- Cute going home outfit
- Extra clothes for DH in case we're there overnight
- Knee high socks (I always get super cold legs and often wear these when I go in for a pap just so I don't get cold - plus they have fun designs and may perk me up, hahaha)
- Slipper socks (something with some tread)
- A few diff types of bras so I can choose what works best when it's time to leave
- Pads/undies that I don't care if they get ruined
- Toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, bodywash, toothbrush/toothpaste, chapstick, etc.)
- Makeup, hairbrush, ponytail holder, etc.
- My favorite pillow
- My pregnancy journal, a notebook, baby book (for footprints), writing utensils
- Snacks and drinks for myself and DH in case they tell me I can't eat or drink during labor (you wanna bet! lol)
- Laptop, camera, cell phone, mp3 player, chargers
- My exercise/birthing ball IF the hospital does not have a birthing ball (if they do I obviously won't bring this, I just need to ask. This will be a total pain in the A to haul along, even if I deflate it and bring the pump, but I KNOW I'm going to want it! I'm barely pregnant and I already love this thing for relieving back pain and what-not and since I plan on going natural, I'm sure it'll help)

For baby:
- Coming home outfit
- Carseat (obviously)

What the heck else would I need? The hospital basically provides everything else, right?
