I went for my glucose test this morning and my Dr. wanted me to be fasting for it, so I didn't have anything after dinner last night. I went this morn at 7am and was fine, I had my sugar drink, then walked around for a bit.

After about 30 mins I started to get warm, and that changed to pretty hot after another 20 mins. Just before the hour was up, I got really sweaty and shaky, my knees actually gave out underneath me, and I started to feel dizzy and nauseous. I went back and sat down inside the lab and started to feel better (it's cold in there), they took my blood again, and I was "fine" (still hungry, but okay).

Was this a bad sign for what the results might be? or do you think maybe it's just from the fasting?

After all that I still had to go and get the WinRho injection (in my butt cheek!) for Rh-.

**UPDATE**

The lab just called me now, and I have to go back for the 2 hour test I'm not sure what the numbers were but now I have to follow a special diet till then and hope and pray I can pass this one.

It's not necessarily a bad sign. Why didn't you have dinner? Usually just not eating after midnight would have been fine. The problem was most likely from going that long without eating. That's not good for you especially when you're pregnant.

I think it was probably just from not eating. I wouldn't worry too much til you get your results back..

There's enough sugar in that stuff to make anyone feel sick. Don't let it worry you. It made me feel similar in another pregnancy and I've never had my test come back bad.

Mmm not eating for that long followed by an insane amount of sugar would probably be my guess. I start feeling icky if I don't eat for like an hour!

It's just from the fasting, not related to how your results will be, at all! Your body is just hungry and trying to get your attention to feed it, especially now that you're pregnant, it needs the nutrients. It's very common, which is why I ALWAYS tell people to take a snack for right after the test is done, you will need it!

A 2 hour test? Weird, normally it's a 1hr and then a 3hr if you fail the first. And I've NEVER had mine taken on my butt, it's ALWAYS been on my arm.
A lot of people fail the 1 hour and then pass the 2nd test. Good luck! If not, remember it's all managable.

at the hospital they said 2-hours, but you never know...the receptionist could be mistaken

it was the vaccine that was in the butt, not the blood test lol

i've always heard 1hr and 3hr as well. You might want to check into it, for the sake of time-management..wouldnt want to be stuck there unknowingly for an extra hour, ya know? Good luck I hope the next one goes better.

That stinks that you have to take a 2nd test. I've never heard of it being done in 2 hours either. I've always heard the 1 hour and 3 hour.

Good luck on the 2nd one!

Thanks girls!

I saw my Dr. this afternoon and she said it's probably nothing to worry about as I'm measuring on by u/s and uterus and that most people pass the second one.

Keeping my fingers crossed!

Oh, and yup, she said it is a 2-hour test. Maybe it's different at this hospital (or in Canada?).

Maybe it is different in Canada. Well when you do go in for your next test, eat something at 11ish the night before. Maybe it will help you not get the shakes. Good luck!
