Did anyone get a new vehicle/car/suv/etc to accomodate the new baby? I have a VW Jetta. And I have a 3 year old who's in a 5pt harness carseat still. So I don't HAVE to get a new vehicle but we've been considering it and have been looking at SUV's. Any good recommendations? Nothing over the top, something in a moderate price range?

We did, we just bought a new van. I had a Civic, so we didn't have an option. 2 carseats and a 10year old would NOT fit in my Civic. So now we have a Kia Sedona and it's awesome.
Honestly though, I don't understand the huge rage of an SUV. They use more cost and yet still only seat 5, what's the point?

We have a Hyundai Sonata and we absolutely love love love it. It is much bigger than the suv's we were looking at, and it gets fabulous gas mileage.

I would only think getting an SUV would be a good idea if you live in an area where 4 wheel drive is recommended due to the terrain and/or snow in the winter. But for a regular city vehicle, a car would do just fine.

i live in the middle of no where pretty much we do get quite a bit of snow in the winter so 4 wheel drive would be helpful. I guess the space that comes along with a van would be utilized im sure, you bring up a good point about SUV's.

My DH has a Sonata and I agree, the car is fantastic! Great gas mileage and pretty roomy. Still not big enough for two carseats and our 10yo though. lol

I've got a Buick, so I'm fine. Hubby on the other hand is in a 98 extended cab Dodge, so we are trying to sell it to buy a 2003 or newer quad cab.

we just traded in my 4 door 2006 Honda civic for the a new CRV and we LOVE it. It was really hard getting him in and out of the car, but now there is more room it's AWD and I don't break my back trying to get him in and out.

We have a small car and I'm not sure if both car seats will fit in it. We were thinking about buying our IL's Toyota Highlander but it depends on the job situation.

We just bought a Lincoln Navigator after the twins were born. Actually it was DH's gift to me for everything I went through that year. My kids don't all fit in it but we just take two cars when we all go out together. It's not often enough to be a big deal. I refuse to drive one of those big vans.

we actually sold my minivan But there was something wrong with the engine... so...

We have a little 4 door saturn, and we have a big 7 passenger 1993 suburban. So when we all go out, we'll take the suburban, and when it's just me and kids it'll be the saturn. My son is 10, and I'm going to have DF turn off the airbag on the passenger side, so he'll be up front with his booster seat (he's only 4'4" so with the new law he is still in a booster.)

I would really really love a van again. I know it'll be the next vehicle we get, I think DF feels bad that we had to sell it.

I have a Buick allure/lacrosse. Its a big enough family car, and definitely big enough for 2 kiddos, but I still want a minivan so badly I think we'll probably end up having one more kid (in a couple years) and then I will get my minivan.

I need a new car sooooo bad... but my last day of work is this Thursday and I cant justify another car payment! Right now I have a 2 door Civic that I owe more than its worth on!!!!! and just had to replace the motor in it (thank goodness DF is a mechanic) as for the other cars we own 3 mustangs that are all paid off, hold no value, they have all turned into some sort of project. the 87 is gutted out to be turned into a drag racing car, the 90 was given to DF for some work he did (that one is drivable, but its a PITA) and the 99 I have I blew the motor up in trying to show off with some other mustang on the road.. whooops!!!

so for now the civic is going to have to do!

I have a 4-door Honda Accord and my DH has a Nissan Pathfinder. He keeps asking me if I want a new car for the baby and I keep telling him "no". Depending on how easy it is to get the baby in and out of the Accord, we might trade cars. In the next few years, we'll be looking at getting something different... but not sure what! I kinda like the Suburu Outbacks - sporty, yet functional for a family.

We were going to buy a new car, but we decided to build a new house since now is the time to buy.. lol So we are going to use our Honda civic coupes for another year..

If you want a good SUV, check out the 2009 Subaru Forester.. This SUV isn't the best looking SUV, but if your looking for the best performance, this SUV is the one for you.. The 2009 Subaru Forester out does all SUV's in it's class.

Right now I have a Volvo Wagon and DF has a Dodge Magnum. I want a van and DF wants a big SUV...something with a 3rd row. He works for a Toyota dealership so we may get a Sienna. He can also buy one of the trades if he wants for next to nothing. We'll see around September what we are going to do.
