I am going to be seeing the dentist on Friday and I have not been in some time. I was wondering if you anyone has had x-rays while pregnant.

I know they put a lead apron on your tummy and it is ok to do, but would you at this point in the pregnancy? Should I tell them to just clean my teeth and leave the xrays for later?

No.. Never had X-rays done when I'm pregnant..

I would honestly wait to do the X-rays until after you have the baby.. Just to be safe.. But I'd go ahead and do the teeth cleaning..

Yes
They won't do the xrays anyway if they know you're expecting, unless it's an emergency.
Expect a little more bleeding than usual

Just get your teeth cleaned...like the other lady's suggested. Wait to get the xrays done after the baby's born.

I hate the dentist too!

I'm pretty sure they won't even attempt to do xrays when pregnant.

It's best to avoid x-rays while pregnant. I just recently scheduled a dentist appointment too, for the 20th. It's been years since I've been so I am long over due! I'm hoping to get lucky, but scared I might have cavities Just because I cannot even remember the last time I got my teeth cleaned by a dentist. *crosses fingers*

i would leave the xrays for your next appt. and unless you have a cavity that absolutely needs to be filled, I'd wait until after the baby is born.

I went to the dentist at 14 weeks and they did do x-rays. The lead apron is ok. Its more your choice if you want it. the radiation they use is a small amount. its ok for the x-ray in the 2nd trimester never in the first. My doctor told me that. She has turned out fine so far.

From what I read if you can wait on x-rays until after the pregnancy then it would be best. The place I'm going to today has digital x-rays and I think that has lower radiation. I bet a lot of places have that now.

depends on your dentist, last time I went I was preggo they gave me a note to have my OB sign so I could get them done, but I never did. I would rather wait.

I haven't been to the dentist in ages to tell you the truth.. I did however have an xray on my leg before I knew I was pregnant which I feel awful about but baby is fine thus far. Also at 3 months pregnant with Jeffrey my Oncologist sent me for a CT Scan and I asked my OB about it (I get them every 6 months to make sure everything is still all clear) and she said it was better to get them to make sure I'm healthy cause that will affect the baby if I'm not.. I forgot exactly how she put it.. but they put shields over me and ran a test to see exactly how much radiation got to the baby and said they would let me know but never did so I'm guessing it wasn't much... this pregnancy however I've skipped out on the CT Scan simply because I need to find a new Oncologist due to personal issues I'm having with mine so I haven't even been in to see him.

Most dentists won't do them when you're pregnant unless it's an emergency. It won't hurt anything to wait until after the baby is born.

Oh and don't be surprised if your gums bleed a bit more when they do the cleaning. Pregnancy can cause that.
