Oh gosh. I don't know what to say.

I'm assuming you've tried other formula's like Nestle Good Start? Um... or maybe the different types of Enfamil? I wish I could help you I'm just not that knowledgeable about formulas!

Can the poops be related to any new solids at all??

Candice, I don't know what to tell you! What about mixing half enfamil and half costco brand? to help with the spitup and the diarrhea? Like Cathy said... maybe try Goodstart? Or soy formula? Could it be a milk intolerance?

I will mention this to my pedi tomorrow and just pose it as Leah's issue. And jusy say whay could cause major spit up. Leah did have major spit up a few days ago. And did before I started her on rice cereal and oatmeal. I don't think she had reflux because she wasn't upset or screaming, just spitting up. I know of someone in the March 09PR thats baby has alot of refulx issues and they had to add a thickening agent to his formula. Perhaps that is an option. Have you added and cereal to his milk to thicken it up a bit? Just a thought.

Oh sweetie!! I am so sorry that you are having so much trouble... Kaylin has acid reflux/GERD. She used to spit up like that too. I know how frustrating it is to see your baby so uncomfortable.

I'm sorry I don't remember details of your last post... what Enfamil are you giving him? Gentlease or Lipil?

Have you tried Enfamil AR or Similac RS? Kaylin is on AR and she does phenomenally well with it. It has added starch (like rice cereal) to make it heavier on her stomach. It stays down really well. She still has little spits when she gets upset or there is a lot of commotion when she is eating...

Something else you can try for right now until you can get new formula... put a teaspoon of rice cereal in his bottle for every ounce of formula - so for an 8 ounce bottle, put 8 teaspoons of rice cereal. This will thicken his milk and make it easier to stay down in his tummy.

Keep him sitting up for at least a half hour after he eats. I used to put kaylin in her Bumbo to feed her and keep her in there to play after she ate.

I would call your pediatrician too and see about checking him out for GERD/reflux. If the formula switches don't help, they can prescribe Zantac or Prilosec. Kaylin takes Prilosec.

Poor little guy... I hope you can figure something out sweet heart. Keep us posted!!!

Oh man Candice. I hate that your going through all of this stuff with his formula. I agree maybe you should try a soy based and see if he his lactose intolerant. Sounds like his tummy is really sensitive. Poor baby, poor mama.

I don't know if all these problems have anything to do with reflux but I'd be marching into that doctor's office pronto..demanding that someone see Andrew. When I was a baby, my mom said I had the same problem. Threw up every bottle I got. Gosh I wish I had the answers for you. ((((((HUGS)))))))

I don't know much about formula, but I think it sounds like he has a hard time with milk. I would try him on soy or the sensitive stuff.

I actually talked to my mom after posting.. she said that dirahiaa could be from teething, anyone else experience this?
She told me to put him back on the costco on since he did not spit up on it..
Will see how that goes again.
Gosh, should it really be this had?

rice cereal will help with the diarreah. My pedi said to put cereal in the milk to thicken it up for spit up issues.

Yeah, I have heard that teething can cause diarrhea - from the excess saliva.

If he isn't spitting up on the Cost Co stuff, I would keep him on that. Are you putting the rice cereal in the bottle?

Honey, I would seriously call the pediatrician. He may have an allergy... especially since he has diarrhea, he could get dehydrated.

Yes, poopy diapers/runny diapers can be from teething!! YES!

I would def. go see the Dr. cause if he is spitting up THAT much he needs to find something that will work. What happesn if you mix cereal in his bottles to weigh down the formula? Thats what my pedi said she tells patients to do if there are lots of spit ups (not for me, but she was using it as an example re: cereals)

And is it bananas that you eat to stop diareaha?

I really don't know if what I have to say will help you. Cole is breastfed and spits up A LOT! We go through about 10 prefolds a day for spit up. my last 2 babies were the same way so it really doesn't bother me.

When I did try formula with Cole, I gave him the enfamil sensitive. He took it just fine and didn't spit up anymore than with breastmilk. Maybe a lactose free version or one with partially broken down proteins would help him. Sydney has a milk allergy and had diarrhea and reflux that went away when milk based products were eliminated. Have you considered a soy based formula?

I hope you find a good option soon. At least he's getting older and over the next couple of months will get most of his nutrients from food rather than formula.
