1 cm, 40% thinned. i really thought after all the contractions the other night i'd be at least 2. better than nothing i suppose. he said he could break my water as it is now if i needed an induction.
yay: doc thinks this won't be a 9lber, but will check next week and may not proceed with an induction. as long as the baby isn't much bigger than Cohen, I'd be happy to deliver another one his size.
Ashley, we probably will lol. if this one is like his brother, he'll come almost a week late and you'll have had that baby for at least a week. cohen was 9lbs 9oz 22.5 in. do you have a name picked out or is it a surprise? was matthew early or late?
In some ways that's why I'm glad I haven't been checked yet and my Dr with DS never did cervical checks. I think it could probably feel discouraging to know that you're not progressed as far as you think even though it doesn't always mean anything. You may only be 1 cm now but in a day or 2 you may be in full blown labor!
Hey cheer up buttercup! Remember, being dilated doesnt mean too much as far as when you will go into labor so it's ok, I know it can be frustrating when you are contracting alot and could just swear up and down that you have progressed more only to find that you haven't, trust me, I've been there, I know how you are feeling! Plus you are only 38 weeks so you still have time! We are all very eager and ready to meet our little ones and this last month is a very uncomfortable time but you won't be pregnant forever, promise!
try not to worry ladies. i had my son gabriel 9 days late, and my second came one day after my due date. so you never know. looks like ill be going on time again with this one. but i really dont expect to be 9 days late.
I'm actually feeling a lot better today than I thought. The initial news was a little discouraging, but my doc said the same thing you all did, that a 1 could change in a matter of hours. I'm not as anxious as I have been about wanting to give birth right now and I think it's because he said we might not have to induce after all, which is a HUGE relief. I don't think I'll start to panic again until I reach my EDD and baby is still not here lol.
We've chosen the name Abram Eli. Needed something pretty unusual to go with Cohen, and for whatever reason we really like Hebrew names despite not being Jewish.
With dd I went to high, thick and closed (completely unchanged at all) and them thinking I had another week and a half or so to delivering four days later. And when I finally started dilating I went from a 1 to a 6 in two hours.
Being dilated ahead of time really doesn't mean much but I know what you mean about hoping for progress if you have to put up with all the contractions - it helps to know they're at least doing something.
