How can you tell if the baby has "dropped" or if the head is "engaged"?? Are they the same thing??

By looking in the mirror, I can't tell a difference at this point...but when I read online, many people say you will feel much more pressure in your pelvis area, etc. (which I am feeling)...

Yes, the 2 are same thing...if you are finding it easier to breath and are more comfortable after eating a bigger meal and having more pelvic/bladder pressure, then baby has probably dropped. First timers usually have this a couple weeks before actual labor starts, second timers and more, their babies don't usually "drop" until labor actually starts. Yay, things are moving along for you!

Sounds good!

I know that I dropped somewhat - but not all the way and his head wasn't engaged. The head never engaged for either of my children until I was in full blown labor.

Now that I think about it...I bet she's starting to drop but hasn't fully yet since I'm still having a hard time breathing and getting awful heartburn even after a few bites of food...

We'll see on Friday what my doc thinks

Mine dropped and I still have horrible heartburn and a really 'full' feeling up top.

I noticed once he dropped that I have flat spots on my belly. It's not as round and full as it used to be and when I have BH my belly looks almost square. My dr told me they use/make less amniotic fluid once they've dropped, hence the flat spots.
