Back when I had my older kids it was said to put the rubbing alcohol on it. I remember Andrew was well over a month old before his fell off, and I think it was Noah that they used that silver nitrate on it cuz it was hanging around so long.
I think with Bella they said do nothing. And with Sophie do nothing, but use a wet warm wash cloth to get off the goo around it. And it fell off pretty fast.
We were told alcohol 3 times per day.. or if we wanted it off faster, with every diaper change (same thing we were told with Holden). we were also told to try as hard as possible NOT to get it wet and only spongebaths until that and his circ was healed.
It fell off on its own a few days ago, nasty little thing.
see with our first 4 kids for sure I know we did the swabbing it with each diaper change, but those things held on for dear life... I cannot remember what we did with Tad.... I would have to look at pics to see when it came off, but im thinking we may have used nothing on it??
For sure bella and sophie were use nothing and it came off super fast.
I had trouble swabbing, the cord was cut so short (Holden's was LONG and nasty ewww) am i'm squeamish so I didn't want to get in there and be rough with it like Thomas was. I think it would have fallen off much faster if I weren't such a wimp
