but for some reason the password isn't working. did it change or something?
anyways.
I'm so incredibly down in the dumps. I just logged onto my student loan information to get the intrest for taxes and I thought it looked funny....
so I called them.
I don't know how much more we can take. When I got out of school, before I started paying I spent an afternoon on the phone with them talking about my options. Becuase we didn't have any real debt at the time I chose to just pay the amount due on each loan and not consildate becuase it was explained to me that I could have a higher payment and be done in five years or I could consolidate and have a lower payment and it be like 10 or more years.
So I chose to make the high payment and then forgot about it. I've been paying that $400 a month, without fail since that time.
Meanwhile we have all this other financial stuff going on now, where we are now in credit card debt and the forclosure and what not. But we've been hanging onto the fact that in two more years we would have that extra 400 dollars a month to put towards any oustanding debt.
Yeah....you know what they told me on the phone today?
"I don't know who told you that but it's going to take you 7 years and 6 months from today to finish paying off these loans."
I seriously can't remember feeling more depressed except maybe when I miscarried my first child.
10 years for a 30k loan!!! Oh why on earth did I ever go to college.

I'm so sorry! I completely understand how overwhelming money issues can be, especially when it seems like you keep getting hit one after another. Personally, I would probably call back and see if I got the same answer, and then see if they can give you any better options. I've learned to keep calling until I feel I'm being given the correct answer, and then get it in writing!
No it's pretty clear. He said that they were talking about only one of those loans (there is like 8 little loans for each semester) when they said 5 years. Anyways....it's annoying.
I mean I'll keep paying what I have to, Ill just be much more depressed about it.
College is such a rip off.

You go to college to get that perfect exciting job just so you can spend the rest of your life paying off the loans...It is really annoying that it has to be that high and I'm sorry your depressed Money situations are stressful
That's such a bummer. I hope that when Will is graduating high school, I'll have enough money to pay his way in college, so he doesn't have to deal with that debt!
I took out a loan for 10 mo hairdressing in 2004.. it ended up being around 20 grand , and have never paid them back. lol. I told them i can only pay 50 dollar payments right now... we are poor. So i better start on doing that soon.
WOW! that is ridiculous. Yes college is very expensive, ive learned that if im gonna spend all this money to go, I better get a degree i something that is going to make some money!! Good luck, I hope they are willing to work with you
Oh my gosh I totally know how you feel! I have 20,000 in debt for college and I didn't even graduate. I dropped out when I found out I was pregnant and so they college charged me 2000 and they won't let me go back until I can pay that in full. How am I gonna pay that back if I can't get my transript from them or go back and finish? How do they expect me to get a job!??!?! I agree college is a HUGE rip off. 4-year colleges at least. I go to community college now and I feel like a get an equally good education for about 1/4 of the price. I wish I would have went to CC in the first place.
Hang in there, I know it sucks. It's hard not to get hung up on the debt and the regret but I just try to focus on the good things in my life, like family
