This is at least the 2nd time it's happened with Abe.
Yesterday I was at Target and I was checking out and some woman started touching Abe's feet and then his hands. Now I didn't say anything but as soon as I got him in the car I busted out the hand sanitizer and smothered him in it. I would NEVER touch a stranger's baby. It's sort of ironic bc I don't make ppl i know wash their hands before touching him, but strangers freak me out. I don't know where they've been or if they are sick.
I haven't had it happen while we were out in a store or anything but a few of the other moms at Ben's school have reached over and touched her. I've also taken her to the hair salon where my grandmother goes every week to get her hair done. She sits down there with her old lady friends and she loves showing the baby off. They touch her and most of them don't ask but I kind of expect it when I go.
Yes- we were at walmart and SO was checking out while i grabbed an envelope at the other side of the store and i came back and some lady was touching his feet and moving his blanket and SO just looked at me like "what do i do?" I walked up and got in front of the baby and the lady stepped back. She is lucky i didn't knock her out!! I wouldn't touch a stranger's baby in the store- don't touch mine!
THis reminds me of something that happened to me in public.
yes people have touched Xander and it does bother me. But we were in Wal-mart one day and he was fussy we were checking out and I was paying so I was kind of ignoring him well this lady comes up, I have Breana's pacifier in his seat cause she was eating a pretzel, and this lady picks the pacifier up and puts it in Xander's mouth. I just reached over immediately I don't even think she had her hand down and took it out and dropped it back in the seat and said that it wasn't his but Breana's.
She had some nerve to do that. I wouldn't even think of doing that.
Being in Italy it isexpected. Italians looooove babies, especially ones that smile ALOT which Peyton does...it doesn't bother me. In fact they are quite considerate, if they are sniffling or coughing they will stay back and just coo over her while covering thier nose/mouth. The little italian women are so precious here...I love it when they come up and ask me "Quanto vecchio?" and I say "Quattro mesi"...then of course they think i speak fluent italian and continue speaking italian...lol I normally just shake my head and smile - lol
So to paraphrase the above - yes, strangers touch Peyton but no it doesnt bother me, it's the italian culture. If I were in the States I'm not sure how I would feel.
I've had numerous people approach me and say how beautiful my kids are.. But no one has touched them unless they ask me.. I live in a small town/city most of the people here are vary polite and courteous..
