At what age do you find it inappropriate for babies to be naked in pictures?? I'm not really talking about the diaper area per say. More like behind shots and chest shots (for girls).

I've never really thought about it. I think I have a pic of Jace ripping around the house naked but with socks on at about 2-ish - just his butt though. He'd still go naked if I let him

My mom has a pic of my at 5 in the bathtub w/ tons of bubbles. It depends. I'd say as long as privates are covered, its not a big deal, for a few years anyways. You also have to careful about that now a days, seems like everyone wants to report child porn just from your daughters playing with bubbles in the tub.

For pictures- I've always said 1... we had Gavin's pictures done professionally at 7 months, and I got the SWEETEST picture of him sitting naked, with his back to the camera, and he turned his head around and smiled-- it's my favorite picture of him! However, underwear and diapers- shoot, my kids run around in the diapers/underwear (Gavin) most days.. even Dylan- look at my pics on facebook He's in just a diaper 9 out of 10 times! Oh, but DH said no more pictures of Gavin in his underwear!! (Gavin's almost 3.5)

Ok, I was just wondering if it was a little weird that Chloe (2.5) is still running around in a diaper and a shirt (most days) and she's not even potty training yet. I tend to kept nakey (top or behind) of my girls to myself after a year. But it's hard because most of the times both girls tend to be in just diapers because they get so hot easily, or drool, or mess up their clothes.... just not worth the hassle sometimes I guess.

I know people that won't even do top shots of girls, ever. Which is fine for them. But when I post top pictures of my girls at a couple months old, I feel like I'm inducing child porn or something to them. Which is funny because I sent A's birth announcement nakey back picture to people that would think that's inappropriate-- oops! . But it's 2010, and I feel I have to watch every picture I post when it comes to nakey.

I don't have a problem at whatever other people do, never had. I was just curious

When I was a photographer at portrait studios, the cutoff age for baby girls showing their chest was 6 months! After 6 months they had to have a shirt on which made for some very upset parents more often than you might think, especially with one year cake photos! I actually got in trouble once because I forgot about the policy and shot some one year cake photos of a little girl in just a tutu....boy was my boss angry and didn't let the mom buy any photos from that shoot...and they were DARLING photos. (as a mom now, I can see why she was so upset..having no rights to darling photos of her daughter) Ugh that was a BAD day. I came home and cried into my pillow.

See if they are still a "baby" it shouldn't be a rule, IMO. That's hard- I would be upset too!!
We did nakey tu tu shots of Kaelyn at 10 months-
Login | Facebook
and no one said anything about a policy or that she HAD to be facing that way... I positioned her because I wanted it to be similar to Gavin's nakey picture (only girlie)... (I understand each studio is different... but this was Sears.)

Christine- Kaelyn is running around in a diaper right now... Dylan had a onesie on, and Gavin is in his underwear and PJ shirt. My kids only get dressed if we go somewhere-- in fact if I say "who wants to go outside?" Gavin will say "Momma, I need clothes!"

ETA: I shot these for a girl (her LO was right at age 1)- but I don't consider her to be "naked"...

haha Susan! Sounds like us! On the weird days when I actually want her to wear real clothes, she always asks: "Are we going out, mama?" haha!

Great question! I never show the diaper area, but the chest is a hard call. I guess maybe I WOULD NOT do it beyond 1ish professionally and 2ish by me. If I did take one, I'd keep it to myself. I saw a pic online of a 2-3 year old sitting cross legged in a cloth diaper ONLY. I guess mom wanted to show off the cloth diaper. I wouldn't do that in a milion years. Too many pervs.

until they are like 3 or four the chest area for me. I think people oversexualize children. Half the time i walk around in just a long shirt, or just boxers and a bra...so long as sophia does not have breasts she will probably do the same... Heck my mom has a picture of me my two sisters, my 6 cousins all in the bath together, and my cousin brandon (the only boy) was standing up..he was like 2. I dont know why we were all in the tub..I dont know why they took the picture..I think one was in the tub and the rest joined? either way..that is whati am used to. would i post that on the internet? hell no. but i most certainly would keep it in a physical album..and any topless under 3 photos on my walls.
As long as a picture isnt sexualized I dont see the point in sexualizing it in your mind. I think those photos of your daughter is beautiful susan!
I love nakey pics I dont know if anyone understands what i mean.

Sophia is in her diaper most of the day..and will continue to be until she doesnt feel comfortable..unless she wants to do it when she is 13..then she will have breasts..and no diaper (hopefully ) so she will have at least an undershirt.

We have a very nakey house. I think being naked is only as "sexual" as people make it. Some people find feet sexy, but that doesn't mean we all stop wearing flip flops. That being said I am careful about what I post online because of the way society is. My parents are ex-hippies though and I was raised on nude beaches.

Susan, those pictures are adorable! I can't wait for spring to take ones of Alexis like that.

Amanda. Yeah, you're totally right. I remember there is a picture of me in the tub with my cousin, we were probably 5 and 7 or something. But then again, pictures like those I think are the exception.

I know walmart tends to be really picky about nakey pictures, even behind ones.

It stinks that we have to be so careful these days because of the perv's out there. sigh.

I guess it is jsut how you are raised. God, DH and his parents and bis brother used to take family baths..That is just who we are as a family i guess...I always thought it was normal until college lol

ITA! I have pictures of all my kids in the tub, and while they are naked, you can only see so much in the tub... so *I* don't consider it to be a naked photo... but I agree with what you said Amanda!

Me too! We did not even close bathroom doors when I was a kid . We don't here now, it is just the way we are. My DH was much more conservative until he married me . Now he goes with the flow. Except for baths. I still bath with the kids occasionally but he refuses. He said he wants some privacy in life .

I am super casual about clothes when we're in the house. Michael and Austin both prefer to wear just underwear to bed and would go nude if I let them . Last night Austin asked if he could keep his socks on with his underwear for bed which I said was fine but laughed a little at the look .

It saddens me that society views a 2 year old naked child as being pornographic. I know it is because of the few @sshats out there that are perverts when it comes to children. I too was raised by hippies and have never felt uncomfortable being naked. I personally think 5-7 years old is a good cut off but I am sure most people would be shocked by even a naked 5 year old. Sad....

I don't worry about it yet at all and dd is over 3. I would post the pictures on the internet but I took hilarious pictures of her naked little booty running around this summer.

Wow, I never even would have thought about this.. I think naked babies are so cute! They are just babies. I think its so asexual, that I'd never even consider a little baby girl with no shirt as any different then a boy with no shirt. Haha.. I'm very very liberal though..

My mom has a picture of me, and I'm like 2 or 3, and I am riding a metal tricycle totally naked.. TOTALLY.. and you can see it all.. It's a frontal shot too.. She has totally shown every guy I've ever dated. I'm like.. thanks!

Who let me ride a cold metal trike totally naked anyways?? Hey now!
