How much has your own childhood influenced the way you parent your own child(ren)?

What are some things you want to do like your parents and what are some things you want to do differently?

aside from good values and all that my most cherished memories are of the family vacations we would take every summer. i hope we can afford to travel places w/ our children.

the one thing i wanted to do differently was to have children closer together than me and my sister. we are 5 years apart and had a very bad relationship growing up.

I have always said I won't yell as much as my mom did. Always be fair.

I hope to not be like my parents, the only thing I want to take from them is to teach Elise to be independant
but from them I will also never just take off and leave her and will never spank or physcialy hurt her

I parent pretty much the opposite of how I was raised. My mother first priority was always herself. My brother came 2nd and I think I ranked about 10th if I was lucky.
