Adelie bit me lastnight when she was nursing and it was so hard I though my ni**le was gone. Well I put her down to get some ice and by the time I walked back in to pick her up dh looked at me and said OMG your bleeding and I looked down at my WHITE tshirt and I had bled through my thin padded bra and my shirt and the spot on my shirt was like 3 inches around of blood. I am in so much pain because now she can't nurse from that side and its really painful I feel like I'm about to burst on that side so I try to pump and it is almost more than I can take. I can't believe she bit me that hard that I would bleed that bad. Everything is still attched lol its just sore and has her tooth mark in it lol but boy is that ever painful. I thought about weaning her but she won't take a bottle and she demands to nurse if I tried to wean her I think she would almost kill me with NO REST lol I'm scared of her now everytime I nurse her I cringe just the thought of getting bit again like that.

Was this a top tooth?

This happened to me last night too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Actually in the early hours of this morning. I was trying to nurse Ella back to sleep so I let her stay attached after she was mostly asleep and I was drifting off too, then all the sudden she bit me. I didn't scream or push her face in or anything because I wanted her to stay asleep. I just lay there with a "silent" scream for a few minutes. When I got up this morning, there was blood on my nightgown. Not nearly as bad as what you described, thank goodness, but I am very fearful and have the same dilemma as she won't take a bottle.

wow-I feel awful for you ladies-I'd be weaning in a hurry-I stopped EBF Nolan at 6 months cold turkey-he got thirsty enough and took a bottle-I'd probably go straight to sippy at this age. Getting your nip chewed off doesn't sound like much fun at all

You know what the crazy thing is I'm so stubborn I want to nurse her to 12 mo that I might actually just live with her biting me (Hopefully she never bites this hard again) But I had a thought of trying to wean her but instantly got sad and can't bear the thought of weaning since she'll be my last baby is that crazy or what? When she was born I said I would nurse her to 15 months I guess if the biting don't stop I'll have to wean her

how long was it before you could nurse on that side again? I was wondering if maybe you could use a nipple shield.

I was wondering how you were recovering from your bite. Mine didn't bleed as much as yours, but I am STRUGGLING! At first it was just a little sore, but today it has gotten much worse and now I can barely stand to nurse her on that side. The good thing is, it only hurts really bad until she gets going and then it only hurts a little and then after its really sore. However I'm terrified she'll bite the already sore nipple and I might die.

I've been doing some research and it seems like actually being bitten this badly is a fluke so hopefully it won't happen again to either of us. I've been icing it and using lanolin and just hope it stops hurting soon - OUCH!!!

A nipple shield is a good idea. I wish I had one - I won't be able to go out and get one till tomorrow.

I have a nipple sheild she refuses it but I am able to nurse her now just scared. I had to pump so I wouldn't get engorged it was painful almost unbearable to even pump and it looked like Pink milk sorry TMI every time I pumped so it was good I pumped so she didn't get that. It is still sore to nurse her but I'm able to do it now. I am really amazed how fast the human body does heal though it is really amazing even though its still sore I'm not gashed open now. I think like 3 or so days I had to pump from that side now I have an overload of milk supply with her working my left side to death hopefully we can get that evened out again lol

So for me this is day 4. I hope I get better soon. Ouch! I haven't had to pump or had any additional bleeding so mine wasn't as bad as yours to begin with. I guess I'm nervous because its getting worse instead of better.

She bit me on the other side this morning - just a little, it barely even hurt, but it didn't help with he fear!
