I'm almost 100% sure Danica has eczema. A few weeks ago I noticed she had dry patches on her knees, the kind you can feel but can't see, and some rashy looking bumps on her chest/tummy. Now she has a dime sized circle on her upper arm that is really dry and flaky.
DH had eczema as a baby too, so it makes me more sure.

We have a pedi appointment at the beginning of March and I'll ask about it then (unless it gets worse, like open sores, weepy like) but I'm not sure what I should do until then. I try to put lotion on as much as possible, but I'm wondering if the regular baby stuff is okay or if I should use something else? Same question with baby wash.

Anyone else have any experience with baby eczema?

I have experience with eczema. I'm battling a break out with my son now.

Try cetaphil, the cream or Vanicream. My DH suffers from eczema and he prefers vanicream over cetaphil. With my dd I tried all kinds of lotions and ointments. Cetaphil worked great on her, but not as good on my son. But vanicream has done wonders.

Amazon.com: Vanicream Moisturizing Skin Care Cream - 1 lb jar: Health & Personal Care

you should read the reviews.

I also use Cetaphil body soap. It's for all life stages.

Amazon.com: Cetaphil Fragrance Free Moisturizing Lotion, 16-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 2): Health & Personal Care

I do want to try the vanicream soap.

Oh and I saw the dermatologist today and he also recommended Vanicream.

Don't waste your money on Avenno.. That stuff made the eczema worse..

Thanks! Will have to look for that.

Yeah, we have baby Aveeno, and it made it worse. I was surprised as I had thought it would be better than the Johnson's, but not so.

I think Cate has eczema too. She has 2 dry patches, one on each leg. My daughter Emely has had eczema since she was around 3 months old. Her eczema is terrible, we've tried OTC & prescription meds and nothing seems to help. We did have some steroid cream that helped a little bit, but she's never been eczema free. She does have the open sores/weepy kind of eczema. I pray Cate's doesn't get that bad.

You'll find that most baby lotions are gimmicks when it comes to people with sensitive skin..

If you want to find Vanicream in your area.. Call around and see if a Pharmacy in your area carries it.. I got a jar at a locally owned pharmacy for $15..

We tried Aveeno on Emmie once and it made things worse too. It actually gave her hives! It was then i looked at the ingredients and saw 'oatmeal' Oops. When she was a baby she'd break out in hives whenever we'd feed her oatmeal cereal.

i've never heard of vanicream, where do you get it at. If it's an otc, than it won't work. She has severe eczema.

But i actually have some of that winnie the pooh eczema stuff here, i should try it on Catie since hers doesn't appear to be as bad as Em's.

we are dealing with it now, what ever you put on her look at the back and make sure it has no acohol or glycerin in it, my doc says eucerin or vasaline but Elise has it bad enough I have to pick up steriod cream for her today, but she itches at hers and it makes it worse

I think Josiah has it now too but I'm not sure. It developed after he got his shots. There is a spot where one of the injections was that is hard and flaky and now it's spread to all over both legs.

He has a doctor's appt coming up soon so I'm going to ask about it then.

Sorry it took so long to respond..

Vanicream is OTC but you can only find it at the Dermatologist (mine carries it) or a compounding pharmacy.. It's also available online.. I doubt you'll find it in regular stores..

A.J has severe eczema as well.. I saw the dermatologist today and I had 2 doctors looking at my poor son.. One of the doctors has never seen it this bad.. What makes it hard to treat is that A.J is so young..

Another option is Vasoline.. Just put a lot on the affected area and put on a sleeper.. This has helped out A.J with his eczema on his body. It's greasy but it works!

If you look at Baby Aquaphor, you'll see that it only contains 40% patrolium, where vasoline contains 100% patrolium..

**I was told to use Vasoline from the Dermatologist**
