Just had to take Allie to the pedi this morning for a horrible diaper rash. Instead of prescribing something, the dr (not her normal one) wrote out a "recipe" for butt paste as she called it. I wanted to share it with you guys in case anyone is in need also!

She said to mix equal parts Desitin (not the creamy kind) & clotrimazole (Lotrimin) & then add enough Mylanta to make it creamy. Apply at every diaper change.

She said more often than not when there's a bad enough rash that doesn't go away in a day or two or that keeps reoccuring, there's an underlying yeast infection as well. So the Lotrimin helps that & the Mylanta is very soothing for them. She also advised for her to go without a diaper...even sleeping...as much as possible. We'll see how that one goes! lol I don't want the poor thing sleeping in her pee!

Maybe you can get away with wrapping her in a microfiber towel or something? Usually when DS gets to that point I pull out the cloth diapers.

Thank you for the recipe! I'm definitely going to keep that on hand and pass it on to a few of my friends that aren't on JM.

interesting! jacob had bad diaper rash last summer, and his pedi said to apply lotrimin 3x/day followed by vaseline b/c of the yeast infection (he had lots of raised bumps). cleared up in 2 days, and he hasn't really had diaper rash since. GL with the naked time!

We use something very similar, it is desitin (non creamy), lotrimin (i always get the store brand), and cortisone cream (store brand) and it works like a charm every time. Hope things clear up for Allie quickly!

Aww a little girl I took care of at a day care was like that. She was a bit older but diaper time was not fun time with her and she was normally a very calm little girl. We had to change her every hour or something like that. We couldn't really do dry time at the center.
