Anyone heard of this? Or am I making it up?
For the last month Tegan has not slept well. She got really congested and developed an ear infection. That went away with amoxicilyn & 2 weeks later she developed a fever. That went away quickly and hasn't come back, she got really congested & that went away within 3 days. For the past 4 nights I can't get her to lay on her back to sleep, she's been sleeping on my chest (so then I don't sleep!) Now every time she coughs, spits up, throws up, and finishes a bottle she screams like she's in pain. When she's on her back she arches it and screams. She is still gaining weight and has good wet diapers. Her poopy diapers are varied between solid-like poops and runny ones. She's been on 50% bf & 50% formula since February 1st when she started daycare.
*I forgot to add i took Tegan to the Dr after she developed her fever. He said she checked out great, though he didn't run any special tests or anything, & she didn't appear to be getting any teeth. I also tried Mylicon drops this evening ... Not working yet *

I was thinking this just might be a cold .. Then maybe thought she was developing a cow's milk allergy ... Then maybe reflux ...

I don't want to just wait it out, I've heard reflux can do some serious damage. Anyone heard anything like this before? Thanks for any suggestions

UPDATE
so my little lady's ear infection came back ... X2
along with both eyes infected
The pedi in Urgent care was a lot more aggressive than her regular pedi. He dug into her ears with a little stick and cleared away all the excess wax.
So Tegan is now on a new antibiotic that has amoxicillin + something else and eye drops.
He also said to revisit the reflux issue if it is in fact still an issue after her infections have cleared. He said more than likely all of the screaming and back arching is from her pain associated with her ear infections.
I've only given her one dose of each medicine tonight and she already seems a little better! We'll see in 10 days! I just hope the ear infections aren't going to be chronic.

Does she react the same way with both breast milk and formula?

It could be reflux or it could be some residual congestion. I know when I've had a bad cold it takes forever before I feel better laying down. I may feel fine upright but the second I lay down I feel terrible.

She may have post nasal drip which does upset their stomach and can cause trouble. I'd give the Dr a call and have them look her over.

It could be reflux, or like Susan said just aftermath of a cold. Arching her back and crying after eating are big signs of reflux though. Have you tried a different formula? Abby is on the Parents Choice sensitive. I'd take her to the Dr again just for a professional opinion though. KUP!

Up until tonight the reaction was only to the formula, now it's both.

We tried switching from Goodstart Gentle Plus (which is what the daycare provides) to Similac Soy. So far no difference.

I'm sorry her poor ears and eyes are infected but it's good that you know now so it can be taken care of. I hope the meds help fast!

Poor baby girl! I hope she gets better soon and this isn't the beginning of chronic ear n eye infections.
