For those that have started solids (and those that are about too), did you start off with cereal? If so, are you still feeding your LO with cereal or have you phased it out?

I tried cereal with Peyton and the look she gave me with ever bite was priceless, like I was feeding her lemons...

I was just wondering if I should just by-pass cereal all together and start with a veggie/fruit.

We haven't started yet but I plan to start with brown rice cereal. I'd try it a few more times maybe and if she still doesn't like it move on to something else. It's not that big of a deal if she won't eat it. DS never liked it either.

You could try mixing a bit of a fruit or veggie in with the cereal. That might help. I did that with DS. I'd mix some fruit or sweet potato in and that's the only way he'd eat cereal.

We by-passed cereal. I didn't see the point in it.

Does she look at you like this? This was DS the first time he had peas. He had already had carrots but I gave him some peas to try. He spit them right back out and gave me the dirtiest looks!

We started with rice cereal and Miles HATES it. He spits it out no matter how I make. We tried mixing it with fruit, breast milk, formula making it thin and thick and still wont eat it.
When we went for his check up I brought it up to the doctor; he said if he wont eat it move on to something else and he will be fine. So we pretty much stick to the step one baby food. He loves sweet potatoes, bananas and Pears so far. Though he still doesn't eat much, about 6-10 bites before he's done.

Tried rice cereal twice ... she didn't like it
She is doing really well the last few days with veggies and fruits ...
We may try cereal again this week ... if not ... just sticking
with the V & F and formula. She is just starting to eat the V & F ... by this
I mean more than 2 or 3 spoonfulls.

We didn't start with rice cereal but we do still feed it to him. I mix it with breastmilk. He only eats solids once or less a day. Some days we skip it all together. The dr wanted us to start foods on an experimental bases since was showing so much interest.

I started it awhile back and he didn't love it, but didn't make that face either (those pictures with the peas are so cute!) Now I mix it with his veggies and fruit to get it a little thicker. He still spits up a lot and the cereal helps him keep things down I think.

I started Xander on rice cereal took him about a month to want to eat it and get the hang of it. Now he LOVES it. I ran out of rice so he is on Oatmeal but he likes the rice better so I will get more of that.

He has cereal and a 1/2 a fruit in the AM and cereal and 1/2 a veggie for dinner.
