We bought one that looks like an elephant ... wasn't pricey at all ... can't remember the brand (I'm at work) ... quiet ... works well ... we used it nightly for a few months ... now she doesn't seem to need it.
They usually recommend a cool mist one cause they are safer (in case baby touches it). But we use a warm steam one cause they don't have filters since they don't have a chance of mold or mildew. The cool mist ones can have mold and we had this problem with one in our room in the past, so we vetoed that idea and got the steam one. It helped alot with her skin and her breathing so we're glad we got it. We didn't go too cheap, but we didn't spend a whole lot either.
My brother has a frog and dragon one, probably the same company as Robin's, and he likes them. They are cool mist. I think he paid about 30 for them (Can $)

We've had like 5 in the past few years. 4 of them were cool mist and they would either get moldy or they would just put out cold air and didn't seem to help at all with breathing. We bought a warm mist one this winter and it helped so much more. I wouldn't spend too if they are cool mist because they don't seem to last too long even for the more expenive ones. Or, maybe we just have had bad luck wtih them.
