So, I am starting to transition Ben to his crib right now since he's trying to crawl out of bed and found that I need to lower my crib mattress. I'm scared he's gonna pull up and fall out since he's trying to climb.

Have any of you had to lower the mattress yet??

and...

What do you do with the crib comforter if you have one?

This might be a weird question, but I honestly don't know what people use them for. I know in the pictures they are always draped over the crib, but who does that? It doesn't seem like a good thing to cover the baby with since they're a little stiff....so what you do? I am thinking of tacking it to the wall over the crib. I live in earthquake country so he can't have anything that might fall over the crib.

He has an extra bed in his room so we put the quilt on top of the comforter on that bed. That's where I put the bumper too... it fits perfectly around the back of the day bed.

We are moving his crib down today actually. If he did pull himself up I think he could topple over. Seems like all the baby proofing is really going to have to happen asap.

I just save the comforter for when they are a bit older. Right now we just lay it on the floor for when she plays.
Our mattress is at it's lowest position, just kept it like that from Em and it works fine for Abby.

Xander doesn't have a quilt. His mattress is at the highest position.

Good Luck

Catie's crib has always been at the lowest level, so no need to move it down. I have the rails in the down position so it's easier to get her. Once she starts pulling herself up, i'll move them to the up position.

Our crib comforter is covering up a big box. I'm using the box to hold her music/sound machine. I didn't want just a 'box' in the room, so i used the crib comforter to hide it.

I haven't lowered the crib yet - but probably need to very soon! We have the comforter draped over the back of the rocker in the nursery - so its still on display. I must admit I haven't used it for anything - I keep forgetting its back there and will go grab a blanket to put on the floor.

Bailey is still in her bassinet, but I usually move the crib to the lowest position when they start sitting up, at least I did w the boys.

As for the comforter I always hung it on the wall above the crib. Now Thomas uses the one that came with his bedding every night, as does Collin w his. They are both the boys favorite blankets.
