Neta has been having solids for a month now, i just feed her once a day but it always requires a bath afterwards. i use a really giant bib but her face and arms get crazy messy. does anyone have any feeding tips? will she naturally get neater over time? in the last week she has gotten a little less crazy with her food...the problem is that i have such a bad back that im taking pain meds just to give her the bath, i cant imagine doing it more than once a day. will she naturally get neater by the time she needs more solids?

i try to just give her the spoon quickly and it works for the first couple minutes but then she grabs the spoon and sucks on it by midway through the meal, thats the part that really makes a mess. like i said she has gotten a bit neater with swallowing her food quickly lately...any advice would be appreciated. thank you for reading!

She will get neater but in the meantime you can get smock style bibs. They have long arms and are bigger than normal bibs. That way all you have to do is wipe her face.

You could also try giving her her own spoon to hold rather than the one you want to feed her with.

I agree give her own spoon. It will get neater.

Good Luck

My kids have always been neat eaters

I also would suggest giving her her own spoon. I wish I had more advice

Reagan started out really messy, but now everything usually ends up around her mouth unless I put too much on the spoon. What about stripping her down to a onsie or no shirt? That way, you could just wipe off the mess or give her a sponge bath instead of leaning over the bath tub?

I agree, give her her own spoon. I also try to pull Bella's hands and fingers from her mouth when she tries to stick them in there after the food goes in. Good luck!

once Levi realized he wants to get every bit of that food in his mouth he got a little neater. He still blows raspberries sometimes in the middle and makes a huge mess. Or rubs his face then his hair. I wipe him down while he's still strapped in to the highchair and before the bib comes off to minimize the mess.
