Are you sure?

Take care of yourself! You may have to quit donating. Some women notice a decrease in supply when pregnant. I nursed throughout my pregnancy with ds (got preggers when dd1 was 10 months old), and towards the end of my pregnancy there was definitely less milk (though my dd was also nursing way less).

You're going to be eating like me soon. I usually eat really well, but in the last day I've eaten 1500 calories in cereal, 1/2 a bag of cheetos and almost a full brownie mix. All that is in addition to my normal food and I'm still losing weight. I've joked that I'm going to pump the rest of my life since lactation is the best diet I've ever been on.

I spoke with the mother I was donating too..and she told me not to worry about it because my milk will change to cololstrum and my supply will diminish.. I am actually really sad at that! darn pregnancy hormones!

The only time in my life that I could (and did!) eat anything I wanted and still lose weight was when I was nursing both my older kids. It was awesome!

hey any mamas who have nursed two different aged children how did your milk supply respond to the pregnancy? I am terrified sophia will start self weaning when my cololstrum hits around 4 or 5 months. Should I start supplelementign with whole milk at that point? she will be about 12 months old....or will encouraging her to nurse keep my supply of colulstrum up? as well what about hydration? I feel SOOOOOO guilty for being pregnant and maybe ruining our bfing relationship

Let's see. I got pregnant with ds when dd1 was 10 months old. I kept nursing her. My supply didn't seem to be affected till later in the pregnancy, maybe around 20+ weeks. She started drinking water around a year, but kept nursing throughout the pregnancy. Towards the end, she wasn't really getting anything, but was nursing more for comfort.

I still remember when my milk came in after having ds she was SO surprised to have something to drink from me again! It was funny.

Everyone's experience is so different, though. I've heard from some moms that their supply dips immediately, and some who had milk throughout the entire pregnancy.

Just try to eat really well and take vitamins to keep yourself healthy, because your body is doing a lot of work right now!
