But I don't really know what they say. I called yesterday and they were in, but the Dr. was reviewing them. I called back today and the nurse said, "The Dr. said they are ok." I asked what that meant because I did not even know what they were testing for other than her iron being low. She said she would ask, and call me back. She just called back and said she had been searching for B's lab results and she found them on the Dr's desk and that he would call me Monday about them because there were some abnormalities. I asked what they were, and she said that she could not interprite the lab results and that he would call me Monday and that it was "nothing to worry about this weekend".
WHAT THE HELL IS THAT! How can I not worry about my childs "abnormal" lab results! I am kinda freaking out!!! Help me ladies.
Surely, if it was really bad they would have already called me, right?? I knew that her iron would come back abnormal since that what what we were testing....Monday seems like a long time away.

wow that is pretty crappy that the nurse left you hanging like that. I personally would just call the office even after hours. If it was something horrible I know the dr wouldn't wait until Monday as I had to bring Emelia in to the hosp one night when her dr called me at 11pm on a Friday night. So I know if it's something they won't let it hang but how horrible for you to sit around and worry
Uggg I can't believe they left you hanging! I agree with Tami that they would have probably already called you if it was really bad but I would hate to not know too.... HuGs!! KUP

I know it's scary but abnormal isn't really a scary word, it just means non average, there's a range of normal and she's outside of it. It could just be on the border of the non average range, it doesn't mean she's far outside of it.
So if the nurse says it's not an immediate concern than it's probably something minor that's easy to handle. If it's low iron it can easily be fixed with a supplement. I have low thyroid issues, so my test results were abnormal and I take a thyroid supplement and i'm fine.
I can't find the post where you mentioned concerns about her that prompted the tests so i'm assuming if you were concerned about her iron that it's not severe symptoms like breathing difficulties or screaming violently, so i'm not trying to make light of your concerns just trying to maybe help you know it's not as scary as it might seem.

I would be freaking out if I were you Anna. I really don't understand why the nurse would tell you they were abnormal then say the dr. will call you Monday. She should have said nothing at all or made sure the dr could speak with you rather than making you sit and worry all weekend. Sorry you have to wait but please keep us posted.

We have already tried fixing her iron with a supplement, and it had not effect on her iron levels. They were still low after weeks of treatment. That is why they did an extensive test and I am just hoping that it is something simple.

I'm guessing that if it were serious they would have told you to bring her in ASAP.
Try to enjoy the weekend, just try to remember, what ever the test is showing as "abnormal" was abnormal yesterday too... and she's been fine, so waiting until Monday really isn't a big deal...
I know you're worried, but you can't do anything but wait anyway...
ugh honestly i'd rather the nurse lie to me and tell me she couldn't locate them than tell me on a FRIDAY that something is out of normal range and leave you to worry all weekend.
But i agree with Kristina that anything (even slightly) out of range is classed as abnormal and if it was really serious I'd hope the Dr would have called you immediately, so hopefully it's not.
KUP on what you find out today...keeping my fingers crossed it's nothing serious and they can sort out what's causing her iron deficiency too. HUGS

We called twice yesterday and they said the same thing, "The results are on his desk, he will call you....." And, of course, he never did. They are going to see a really pissy mommy today. I have a doctors appt at noon, and I will call again after that. If they give me the same crap, I am going up there and not leaving until I see him.
ETA: A nurse also called me on Saturday because the Dr. wanted her to call me to make sure nothing "new" was going on. She also said that he was consulting another dr (a patholigist) about her results.

I don't think that I could have made it through yesterday without going up there!! Heck at this point I feel as though the dr office deserves an irrate mama up there!!! Hope that every turns out ot be ok w Miss Bella!!! Keep us apdated!!
I think after all this I would probably be finding a new dr. If you have a dr that can't call you back even if he has no news, leaves you hanging ect that isn't someone I would want to keep around. Remember you are paying him, if he isn't living up to his end then it's time to find someone else. It's just crazy the run around you are getting....
Well, he called back and of course it was while I was at the Dr. so he talked to DH. He basically said that her iron was low but it is not causing any other problems and to be sure we are feeding her at least 22 oz of iron fortified formula each day and that they would recheck her at 9 month.
But that everything is ok since she is growing fine, gaining weight fine, and reaching all her milestones.
I am relieved, but I wish there was nothing wrong with her at all and that her iron was fine to begin with. Maybe this is just "normal" for her.
