Sorry if this is a redundant topic I don't check every day anymore!

What sort of things are you giving your LOs for meals and snacks? I feel like our routine items are getting old.

We do avocado almost every day and will keep doing it( nutritionally dense and she loves it), but some days grilled chicken or fish, veggies (frozen heated up) fresh fruit and whole grain cereal for breakfast sometimes with yogurt puffs....mac and cheese, pasta (with and without sauce) cheese, have done a little baked potato, veggie burger, beans of various types, sometimes steak or hamburger if we are having it, occasionally eggs (we don't each many eggs)... (writing this I seem to be giving her a lot of variety but it seems like we repeat a lot of stuff) raviolis. At the suggestion of a friend we picked up some organic whole grain cereal bars today also for snacks.

I guess I am just looking for 'new' ideas for meals and snacks.

Thanks!

I'm not much help since Wesley eats gluten/dairy free. He eats a lot of fruits and veggies. He also eats chicken or turkey with rice and sweet potatoes or carrots. His new favorites are peaches and rice cereal with fresh bananas.

whatever we eat, she eats! Unless its shrimp as I hav enot tested shell fish yet. It runs on the family. So we will wait till 2.

Last night she had Spinich and garlic chicken sausage, broccoli, and some Squash noodle dish (from Target). Sausage I just cut small so the skin wasn't big, the others I gave as is.

Tonight we are having pot roast, home made mac and cheese and mix veggies

We also give avocado almost everyday. I also offer fresh berries, watermelon, canned peaches, cut up pear, steamed veggies, toast with jam, hard boiled egg, scrambled eggs, deli meat, turkey burger, turkey and/or chicken sausage, grilled chicken, baked salmon, roasted potatoes, noodles, coconut yogurt, applesauce with a pureed veggie mixed in, butternut squash soup, split pea soup, carrot soup...

We are dairy free as of now, no soy or nuts either, so our choices are limited. But I try to offer a protein, grain, fruit, and veggie at every meal. Sometimes he eats well, sometimes he doesn't, but I always offer a variety.

Joel is currently on a peanut butter kick. Once he had it, now its all he wants..
Like Amy, I always offer a balanced meal...if he eats it all, great, if not...no big deal. Sometimes he gets junk...but its very limited..like french fries, or cookies..but its because one of us is eating them, and he INSISTS on sampling everything anyone is eating. He is not a big fan of green veg, and now that he has realized that if he doesnt like something he can just spit it out...thats what he does, lol..so our days of peas and green beans and such are coming to a close I think. Outside of that there isnt much he wont eat.

Mel do you give peanut butter on toast, or on apple slices? I haven't introduced peanut butter yet but neither DH or I have any strong food allergies so I probably should.

Keep the ideas coming, thanks Ladies!

We rely heavily on avocado, greek yogurt, cheerios, puffs, cheese, and all kinds of fresh fruit.

I love giving big slices of nectarine he can pick up and bite off, and he used to really like blueberries though I think the skins are starting to bother him. I've also started giving him toast or english muffins with butter, jam, or peanut butter. I just give him a half of piece of bread or a half of english muffin for him to bite off. The mozzarella sticks I have are great because I can give him the whole thing and he can eat it on his own and it keeps him quiet while I figure out what else I can find for him!

Meals aren't so bad as he usually has what we have. Last night he got pasta salad that had rosemary, flaked tuna, cucumber and tomato. I didn't give the cukes because they are too hard for ol' toothless to get into and he liked the tomato but some of the skin got caught in his mouth and he hated it. He's had Mexican fish hash, burgers, potato salad, deli sandwich parts, and most anything we eat for dinner. Breakfast is also pretty easy with alternating between eggs, toast, fruit, O's, oatmeal, yogurt, and pancakes.

Lunch and snacks are where I struggle. Lunch I can put a bunch of things together that I either prep and hand to him or feed to him myself- PB&J, cottage cheese, diced/ slices of cheese, sliced/ whole fruit, sauteed zucchini, leftover sweet potato fries, pita pieces with hummus, yogurt with fruit mixed in and your occasional puree. I dont' mind giving a mish-mash of foods on his tray either. But with snacks, it's so hard to find something quick and healthy that isn't always cheese or puffs.

I have a hard time with veggies too. So many of them are either hard, leafy, or have thick skins. I never seem to have much on hand that I feel like he can eat. I'm always looking for suggestions there.

Kim, any way and every way...on toast, on crackers...as a sandwich...on apples, and currently on bananas, he just loves it. I waited awhile on it as well, and neither of us or anyone in the fam has an allergy...he has been fine.

Erika I will have to try pita and hummus we haven't done that yet! It's so hard because she won't take ANYTHING by spoon (only things she can feed herself) so that limits some of what I wish I could give her.

I will try english muffins too with jam, and peanut butter on crackers or toast.

What kind of crackers are you all giving?

we use Ritz..or the store brand equivalent ...they melt really quickly in the mouth, and arent as hard to chew as some.

adam is addicted to string cheese, blueberries and edamame (snacks)

as for meals, recently I've made quesadillas with cheese and beans inside, sometimes chicken or turkey in there too. he loves any type of pasta, especially rotini noodles & sauce. he likes stuffing and potatoes lately...

I'm just starting to give him 2 meals a day and snacks. his latest craze was Baked snap peas---LOVES them! Other wise for snacks its almost always fruit/veggies. And for meals its whatever we are eating. He got octopus last week
The hummus is a great idea (messy) but he loves that with pita bread or really anything LOL
