So Thursday night I figured out that Cora is lactose sensitive. My mom and I are both lactose sensitive so it doesnt suprise me too much that she is as well. I did a bunch of research on different kinds of milk, and finally decided I would give her soy, the biggest difference between vitamin D and soy milk is soy has 2.5 grams of fat and vitiamin D has 8 grams. I figured if I give it at this age she would like it better when she gets older. I cant stand the stuff! Well Friday my sister talks me into calling her ped. before I go to the store. Talked to a nurse, found out they can test her stool, but with the family history this nurse wasnt suprised and didnt seem to want to waste my time. She did want to talk to a doctor to see what the best option would be for milk, it sounded to me like she thought Cora should go back on formula. She said I would get a call back in 1-3 hours (before 4:30pm). So we went out to run some errands and I hoped I would get that call before I finished at the grocery store, I live 45 minutes from the store. Well I was almost home so at 4:50pm I called to try and make an appt for Monday. I had just gotten through and was setting up that appt when I got a call from the nurse, ok so forget the appt I will talk with the nurse since she should have an answer for me. To sum up what the nurse said (different nurse, kinda stupid) was that I shouldnt give Cora any milk, period. I could try lactose free milk, or trying crushing up little lactose pills for her, neither of these options worked for me or my mom so I am not going to bother with Cora. I asked what I should put in her bottle and she said water or juice. I'm sorry, juice in her bottle?!?! I am a first time mom and even I know that is a huge no-no. Plus Cora doesnt even like juice. So I asked her to set up an appt for Monday, I dont care if they do the stool test or not, I just want a better opinion on what to give my daughter.
