About a week before Lilyana's birthday she started walking. She would take 9-10 steady steps before she would sit down. She did it quite a few times too.

Now she will barely stand up without wobbling and falling down. Taking steps is pretty much out of the question since she can't even get her balance when standing anymore.

It doesn't concern me at all that she isn't walking, what concerns me is that she could do something two weeks ago that she can't seem to figure out anymore.

What gives?

I may be wayyy off, but has she been pulling at her ears? Maybe something is going on with her equilibrium.

Ayla takes steps some days and is wobbly some days. I always assume her wobbly days are her days of teething that are worse, and she is almost always digging in her ears! Just a thought.

I would bring it up to her pedi for peace of mind. KUP, and I hope everything is okay!

hmm... I don't know, it probably is normal but I am not sure either. If it were me, I would give her a few weeks. Kinda like Avery rolled over like a dozen times at 5 months but then didn't do it again till 9 1/2 months and was crawling 2 weeks later. So it could be very well normal

No, she isn't pulling at her ears, but thanks for bringing that up! I didn't even thing about that!

I don't know if I should encourage her to stand and take a couple of steps to learn her balance, or if I should just assume that she is being her normal stubborn self and I should just leave it alone!

From what I have been told, it's normal for children to regress sometimes. My SIL had my nephew almost potty trained, then he stopped using the potty again. Our ped said they "forget" sometimes how to do things. I agree, I would give her a few weeks. If she is still struggling, then maybe bring it up.

I'd give it a few weeks too, to see if she re-learns.. and I'd encourage her.we practice with Ray all the time. several times a day we take a time out for a few minutes, and try the walking thing. he is getting better at his balance, but I don't think he would be if i did not encourage it.. some kids just have it from the get go..my V did. I didn't have to do anything with her, she just did it. this little guy. I have to help, encourage and lot of practice.

always encourage!!!! Heck Avery has not taken one step solo yet but we still walk around with her push toys or hold her hands. She thinks its so fun and jsut laughs the whole time. So keep encouraging her, but don't make it work.

Hmm. What bothers me is that her balance is off. I would call and check with the peds, maybe have them look in her ears and check her sinuses for good measure.

I am sure it is nothing... BUT.. The part that gets me is that she isn't just refusing to do something she can do, she is incapable where she was capable before, to me, thats concerning.

If you noticed other issues with balance I would go in, but if you don't then I would just sit on it and wait a touch. Could be those muscles just got a good workout and are now sore. I know days after I do a lunge workout I'm wobbly everytime I need to get up! LOL

I would probably just call her ped and just ask if it is normal and what they would like me to do. I did that once with Eden and explained that I was just a little concerned and wanted to make sure that I was doing the right thing.

Like other mommies have said, it could be nothing at all or it could be something like ear trouble. KUP!

I think I will wait a couple of days and see what happens. I would hate to over react but I don't want to under react either.
