Breastfeeding a Toddler - Why on Earth? : Babies : pregnancy and parenting on JustMommies

I think it is obvious why this is the article I chose, I happen to have a 24 pound kiddo on my lap as I type this!! (At least is easier with a toddler than an infant!!)

I never thought I'd be nursing this long but am happy to find tons of information out there that validates what I'm doing.

I breastfed Ava the longest of any of them.I really wish i would have been more informed...with Marysa the drs told me I coudn't because I was a teenagerAnd then Kylee they said she wasn't gaining enough weight and she got huge after alternating with formula.
I am happy with the bond Ava and I had but was glad for my boobs back at the same time

I really wish I could have breastfed longer............. Lukey was just taking too much from me and still not getting enough; it wasnt healthy for either of us. He couldnt gain weight and was in the 3rd percentile at the highest. And I was losing too much weight and was losing too many of the nutrients I needed. I just couldnt do it............ Wish I could have but thats life.............. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do............

Amara was on breastmilk only for her first year and we began weaning around 18 months. She was never sick that entire time and I was so grateful for that. It made the caring process easier. By the time she started to go to playschool and began picking up colds, she could tell me or show me what was not feeling well.

Though I'm a breastfeeding advocate, we all have to make choices which are best for us and our babies. Some of us don't have the supply (my sister didn't), some of us are/were misinformed and there are many other reasons but we all made the choice which we thought best for our children given the circumstances.
