A.J is in 12 month clothing.. 18 months are way to big.. He can get away with 18 month or even 24 month short sleeved shirts, they just look long but not in the pants.. He also has the skinny problem in the waist. Can't seem to find jeans to fit him in size 12 months that have adjustable waists and the ones I do find have wide legs..
Oh the joys of having a short skinny boy.. My daughter is petite also and there are more options out there for her verses for boy clothing.

I think that the sizing depends on the store. In general I have heard 2T is longer in the legs. So it depends on her leg length (if she is long in that area, I would go with 2T and roll them a bit if needed...at least she will be able to wear them longer!)
Liam is in an 18 month pretty steadily (except 1-piece PJ's...those are too short in rise, so he is in 24, even though the legs are way too long). He had grown into himself and seems to have evened out. Which is awesome
Depends on the brand. Most of her clothes comes from The Children's Place, Gymboree, or Crazy 8. She wears 12 months from TCP and 12-18 from Gymboree. She could probably wear 6-12 month shorts when it gets warm out, but I bought those in 12-18 months, too. Crazy 8's sizing is all over the place so I pretty much have to have her with me when I buy from there.
