What, if any tattoos/piercings do you have/want? does dh have any? would you allow your child to get them before s/he is 18?

I have my duck and my maiden name, on each ankle, one outer one inner. Of course my maiden name was done with Tom so it's not all that great.

I did my 2nd-5th ear holes myself, with out asking my parents, all between 12-15.
My eyebrow was my 16th present to myself, as well as my dad's to me-I paid, he signed the consent.
My tongue was done at 19, as was my nose but Tom did the nose for me. OUCH!

I so badly want the back of my neck done! As well as two intradermals on my chest, above the bra line.

I want to get the water below my duck filled in around my ankle and 4 baby ducks around it-two with blue sailor hats, one with a pink, and one with a halo.
Also, a small cartoon-like cow on my shoulder blade or chest for Nana.
And lastly, a small frog next to the cow for my mom.

Tom has 8. (My name-back of upper arm, Packers logo (back of neck), a skull with a tongue sticking out and wings (upper arm), two bio-mechanical tatts (one on each forearm), "kill me" (on his stomach-did it at 12 or 13 himself), Horseshoe, that said Irish in the bottom and has a clover in the middle (right side of chest), and some weird web like thing on his leg.

Oh an two "home made" ones on his other leg, anarchy sign and pentagram. They look AWFUL!

Tom had 4-6 holes in each ear, his eyebrow, nose, and left nipple done but no longer wears them.
All he currently has in are his tongue and lip.

Tom wants to get a scene from the nightmare before xmas on his entire back, and a portrait of the kids on the other side of his chest, and get sleeves done with a web or net with hooks "attaching" it to his back/neck/chest.

As for the kids:
Piercings-ears any age, as many as they want. After the first, they have to pay
Eyebrow, nose, belly button 14-18-they have to pay!
Tongue, lip, la brae or however you spell it-16 at least.
Tatt's 18.

I have 2 tattoos. I got them at 18 and totally regret them now. Wish they were gone but am too chicken to sit through tattoo laser removal so I'm stuck with them.

My husband has full sleeves. Mostly they're Japanese art with a few other things thrown in on his upper arms. He also has two on his chest below his collar bone, not huge. He has had work done by various talented artists throughout the country. He wants a chest piece, but I have told him no. I like his chest and wanna see it primarily tattoo free. He also wants to get my name, but I won't let him. Not because of the jinx thing just because I don't want him getting anymore tattoos! He already has thousands of dollars invested on his arms. I guess they're good tho he gets compliments everywhere we go.

As far as my children getting them I really hope they don't. My oldest doesn't 'get' tattoos at all and has said he wished I didnt have them. So I try to cover the only one visible up. Who knows how Ben will feel. If either expressed any interest in getting them they would HAVE to wait until they are 18 and out of my house. I will never sign any consent form and I dare any shop to do anything to my kid without my consent because I would absolutely sue. I would hope they would never want piercings either. The only thing I have pierced are my ears, just once. I really wish my mom would have put her foot down with me on the tattoo issue. All I thought of at the time was how cool they were, if I only knew that if I waited I'd actually be unique 13 years later if I didn't have any!

ITA with this statement! I originally had two tattoos done by Tom. my maiden name, while not the prettiest thing in the world, I love. It's a part of me, I never want to lose, ya know?

But the same night, Tom did two hearts w/ a banner that said our initials. It was ugly as sin, then we separated for a whole long month. So I covered it up with the duck. That hurt worse than childbirth! The pain was EXCRUCIATING! But I am so happy I did have it, so I was tempted to cover it. Only because I wouldn't have gotten my duck had I not wanted to cover it. The duck is a reminder to me that despite being young when married, I do care about and love Tom. At the time I did it out of spite. I left him, then he went and got some ink as a way to deal with the pain. We got back together 2 days after I got it and my tongue done.

I giggled at the "always getting compliments" on your husbands sleeves, I have to ask, does it ever annoy you to have him and random strangers discussing ink?

People are always commenting on the GB Packers logo on Tom's neck, and the two biomechanical things on his arms (starts to sleeves, but it's been 5 years and we haven't had money to spend on ink...) And the tattoos ALWAYS lead to other topics that never seem to end. I hate long conversations with strangers.

Oh and I gotta say something about getting someones name: I'd never recommend it or do it again, personally. But Tom wanted my name. I tried to convince him otherwise. As did the artist that did it. He busted out a photo album of names. He said every name he has done, the couple had split within 6 mos. Tom and I have been back since, and now he has a pic of us, in the beginning of the album saying we have been the ONLY exception to the 'rule'.

To answer your question....no, it doesn't bother me when random people stop us. Only because my husband HATES having conversations about himself with random strangers so they never last long lol. He says thanks, then is kinda brief in his responses without being rude than is on his way. Now that's not to say he never talks to strangers, it just depends on the situation. The only time it ever bothered me was right after we got married and were having dinner at a restaurant. We were both dressed nice, but I guess Hubby had on a short sleeve bowling shirt so arms were exposed. This chick who wasn't our waitress comes to our table and literally reached out and grabbed his arm!!!! Like right in front of me. Then looks at me and asks 'are you all tatted up too??' The whole thing just ticked me off so I shot back with 'Do I look like I'd be?'. You don't grab soneones arm, but especially a married mans arm in front of his wife. So rude.

As far as getting my name my Hubby really isn't worried about the curse thing. We've made it through so much crap in the 5 years we've been married not much we couldn't weather. I just honestly don't want him to get it because I don't want him getting anything else lol.

One of my tattoos is ugly and I've considered getting it covered, but don't know with what. Just to make it less ugly. Oh and here's something random. You know how Kat Von D is like this amazing artist?? Well a guy my husband knows has some of her stuff and he said it's terrible. Even the guy isn't happy with it. I pass High Voltage all the time and one day I need to walk in just to see who actually does work there in real life. Probably no one on the show lol!

i have my ears pierced and that's it, no tattoos. dh has 3 tattoos that he got when he was in college; he doesn't like having them now and always covers them up yet he says he doesn't regret getting them . they don't bother me at all.

no to my kids getting them before they're 18. after that it's up to them and i wouldn't complain at all. they are in control of altering or not altering their body from that point forward.

I have zero tattoos and 0 piercings. I use to have my ears done but I'm allergic to EVERYTHING and they closed.
I couldn't get a tattoo even though I don't have anything against them. I just couldn't put anything on me that wouldn't wash off. I'm very weird like that.

Sleeves absolutely gross me out.
Tattoos on necks, heads, faces, all gross me out. I'm very "military". LOL

DH has no tattoos and wouldn't get one.
He does have a Prince Albert... LOVE that thing!

As for the girls.. Kayla has her ears pierced.
She could get a second hole, it wouldn't bother me. Anything else, she needs to wait.
AT LEAST 16 for any other piercing.
Tattoo's, when she's 18 if she wants.

Emily and Abby will get their ears pierced if they want them done when they are 6.

I hate sleeves too Paula! Somedays I still can't believe I married someone with them. Funny story-the day my Hubby started work where I was working a fellow employee called me up and said 'hey, we have a new guy starting today he's just your type...long blonde hair, Australian and he's a guitar player.'. I was laughing because I thought Keith Urban was coming in that day (he was a customer of ours and I was never there when he showed up lol). Anyway I go to work and sure enough there this guy was......but he had full sleeves and I immediately turned my nose up and kept walking!!! I was watching him from a distance so he didn't see my snobbery lol. Anyway, the more I got to know him the more I liked him and honestly started to pay no attention to them. Now they're just him. He has them starting exactly 3 finger widths up from where his wrist is so that he can wear a dress shirt and no one would have a clue. He also covers them when appropriate. Like if we are taking my oldest to a new function or something he covers his arms, he doesn't try to be rebellious with his tattoos. He gets there is a time and a place. His are also really colorful, not all dark like some I've seen.

Oh and you know Paula who was fascinated by his tattoos. Matt LeBlanc's daughter apparently. She wanted to see all of them lol.

ROFL! That's funny!
Did I sound snobby saying I don't like them? I don't care if others have them, but I could never and would never allow DH to get them, though he wouldn't anyway.
Even worse than a guy with them, is a girl. Blech. Ok ok, I am a snob. LOL

Uh girl with sleeves is icky!!! No offense to anyone here or lurking, but I can't stand it when a woman has sleeves. Woman's arms can be so beautiful so why cover them with ink??

No you didn't sound like a snob. I don't like them either, but they work on my Hubby for some strange reason. Like when he's on stage playing and he has just the right shirt on and his guitar....yum LOL! I won't let him get a chest piece. He's always coming home telling me I should have seen this guys chest piece or even takes pics and shows me. I always tell him 'yeah, nice hope his wife/GF likes having a giant tiger (or whatever it is) looking down at her while he's on top if her!'. I just like his bare chest and don't wanna see anything on it!

Most everyone my Hubby knows has tattoos, lots with sleeves. It's weird you will see them at work and they all have business clothes on then when home they have tattoos everywhere lol. They're all musicians tho so I guess it works in that scene.

I like a bare chest too!! I don't even like hair! I love Dh's arms though, so maybe that's why I dislike the thought of tattoos on them so much.
I wouldn't mind one on his shoulder blade, but not chest or arms or face or neck. Yeah, I'll stick to none. LOL
Now call me crazy but I would have DH's name tattooed on me in a heartbeat...even though I won't.

I've only seen pics of hubby's bare arms lol! They looked nice tho!

Yeah, I dont mind chest hair, but it has to be the right amount. Too hairy and it's all over the sheets. Hubby has just the right amount, plus it's dark blonde so I don't mind it.

Oh I know what else I was gonna say about sleeves. I think when someone has primarily black and grey ink they look dirty. Does that make sense? If you do sleeves there has to be some color. Like Kat Von D's tattoos are mostly black and grey and I want to throw her in the tub and scrub her down. She always looks like she's wearing yesterdays makeup.

Chris, I know what you mean about sleeves looking dirty when all black and grey. The tatt's Tom has so far on his arms are all black/grey and I keep telling him he needs some color.

The ONLY color he has done is his Irish tatt on his chest, but it's all green/black, and then the Packer's logo on his neck, which is again green, with a yellow border around the G, but it fades into his skin really easily.

As for Girl's with lots of tatts...... I'm torn. Some, they look very tasteful, but more often than not just plain skanky.

My biggest pet peeve tattoo's getting something just because you like it or it's "cool" I mean, if you are getting something permanent on your body, shouldn't it mean something???? But then again, this is coming from someone who likes piercings, and what the heck kind of meaning can a piercing have?

Jay got his Prince Albert in England and they are allowed to use a numbing cream. He was told they aren't allowed to do that here. He said the worst part was having a guy hold his junk. LOL I went with him to have him done. My reaction to it was much worse than his. LOL It was really quick, so the pain wasn't so bad but SEEING it done, O.M.G... I do NOT recommend it!!
It bleeds A LOT after. "Morning wood" is horrible during recovery and you literally have to wrap it in a towel at night to keep it from bleeding everywhere. It bled so much I was petrified something was wrong.
Once it was healed though, he's NEVER had any issues with it.

I'm completely piercing illiterate. Why is it called a Prince Albert and why would you have it done? Is it a sensation thing? Told ya I'm illiterate lol!

Kind of like why a girl gets a tongue ring.. The PA is more for a girl and it feels great.
According to wikipedia..
It was said that Prince Albert invented the piercing that shares his name in order to tame the appearance of his large penis in tight trouser but that's just urban legend.

When DH brought up the PA, I had never heard of it. So when he explained what it was (he was in England, I was still home in the states), I was like.. :O Um, Ouch!! But then we looked into it more and he decided he really wanted it done. He got it done right after I got out of the hospital from having Kayla, since I was out of commission anyway. LOL

I have 13 piercings (7 are in my ears) and 9 tattoos, my largest one is on my right forearm. I get compliments on it all the time since it is the most seen one.

I have none right now. However I did used to have 8 piercings. 3 in one ear, 4 in one ear and my navel.

The girls can get their ears pierced when they ask for them. Anything else pierced has to wait till they are 16. Tattoos will have to wait until they don't live at home. I don't like them at all.

ETA: I've been wanting to get my ears re-done and my nose.

That was the plan when I was pregnant with Collin, then he chickened out!
