UGGGGG I wish she never started on those things!!! So I have her down to nap and bedtime only but I would love to get rid of them completely. I don't offer anymore but she will ask for one until she gets it. Do I just go cold turkey and have a few awful nights?

With Emily, she was older.. She took it permanently when she was 2 and we did it cold turkey. She asked for it for a couple of nights but we just said no and that was that.

I'm not the one to ask. We're leaving Lucy to decide when to give up hers. The only rule I have is that it is only for naps and night time.

I did it cold turkey with Thomas. He was 15 mos old, and super smart with understanding things. It was xmas eve, I told him it was the last night, that santa was going to come take it, and bring him toys. We had 3-5 rough nights where I had to rock him to sleep but then he was over it.

Bailey and Collin weren't really into theirs.

Some kids do better with cold turkey and a few "bad" days, or just move on like it never existed.

Others do better with weaning. Like you could, give it at nap and bed, but remove it once asleep, then don't give it back. Then get rid of it for nap. then bed.

Or just follow Melanie's method and wait for her to be ready, some kids that will be older than others.

Remember kids have that suckling instinct until 3-4 years old. (Probably makes sense as the world BFing average for weaning is 4 y/o......)

Honestly, I'd try each one, I can promise she will NOT be taking a paci when she goes for her first sleepover at a friends house.

With Ava she only used it at night and naps until around 19 months. One night I just didn't give it to her. She looked and me and whined a second...turned over and went to sleep.

I tried doing that with Elijah the other night and he started crying the second I walked away without giving it to him. So I gave it back. I'll wait a while. I don't mind as long it's only in bed.

My theory...they aren't going to go to college with it LOL!!!

I'm ready for Damian to give his up, however he is not. While we were in the dollar store yesterday, I found some candy pacifiers, at first I was like seriously (they have the hard shield and then the candy "sucky part" then i noticed they were sour "extreme enough to make you cry" so I started thinking, bad mommy, but this just might get him to never want a binky again... so I bought 3 of them

My boys LOVE the paci candy you dip into the sugar and always seem to con Tom into buying it for them

A week or so ago, I was in Rite Aid or CVS with both of them and Collin grabbed one. Before he could ask, Thomas grabbed his arm and said, "put it down, mommy won't let you get it. Wait for Daddy."
