Ok, late on this one, but I'll answer now.

I would never name my kids something too "out there" that he'd get picked on and I'd never name him something old fashioned like George - that's just not my style. Also would never name him something hippy like Rain or something and would never go for something that would make a weird sounding first last name combo like rhyming or something.

Names that would be alliterative with my last name tend to sound weird, so I'd probably not use any like that. I wouldn't use a name like "Adolf" or any other name with extremely negative connotations. I don't think I'd use a non-name for a name (ex: I read that someone in Egypt named their child "facebook" because of the roll it played in the revolution there).

oh wow! I cant believe someone would name their kid facebook! weirdo!
LOL

I would never name an obviously girl/boy name for the opposite sex... like call a girl richard.
I would never name anyone richard . My neighbour growing up was an older man and everyone called him dick.... which ok was hilarious as a teen... but worse, his last name was BALL!!!!!
I would never name my child something no one could pronounce.
I would never name my child old man names such as murray....
finally I would never name my child with a variation of my dogs name such as my dh wanted to do.... leroy (dog) elroy(child)....

When I was growing up, there was a man named Richard Seaman. He went by "Dick". And he worked as a substitute teacher. For middle school.

My mom says that when she was little "dick" wasn't really a slang term like it is now. The name to avoid back then was "Peter". So people who are now in their 50s/60s or older named "Dick" probably didn't have parents as cruel as it seems.
