There arent many non FT mommies in my ddc and i know we have a few mommies who have more than 1 SOOOOOOO im going to ask here.
How can you tell the difference between BH and preterm labor?
a few nights ago i got a random burning in where im thinking is my cervix cos it was kind of up there and it was like really bad. Which also led to my vaginal walls feeling swollen.(i also had Diahrrea for 3 days thankfully its gone now but it was still going on yesterday) I drank a lot of water trying to stay hydrated. So yesterday I was feeling crampy all day then it finally stopped and decided ill TRY to DTD with DH, but told him if it hurts again we are stopping right away. So it didnt hurt and we kept going. well afterwards I went to lay in bed. As soon as I laid down INSTANT contraction-like pain. My hips my uterus everything hurt so bad. so I remembered the tricks of BH. Drank some water, laid in a warm bath, the bath made it feel better WHILE i was in the tub but the moment I got out of the tub INSTANT again. So since im stubborn and there was no blood and my water is still intact i decided i would just wait it out and try to get some sleep instead of calling my ob. stubborn ol' me. Well they would be EXTREME like how they were when I was in labor with DD, and then not completely go away but subside for a few seconds then EXTREME again for 5 minutes. this started at (lets see DH got home from work at 1:20, so probably) like 1:45 finally fell asleep at like 2:30-3:00. Couldnt get comfy at all though. not on my back. either side NO WAY AT ALL. it hasnt happened again today (knock on wood) but this morning my hips still hurt very bad.
So, was that BHs or Preterm labor??

ETA: i forgot to mention, i also felt like i had some back labor

Just sounds like Braxton hicks to me, but I would hold off on the sex. Since you were having some burning issues dtd might have irritated it further and is probably also causing the hip pain.

I'd rest if I were you and if it keeps up call your doc.

It was Braxton Hicks. I get them sometimes too and they are often caused by physical activity (not necessarily sex...since DH is not getting any ) or a lot of straining on my part (lifting heavy things, doing too much in one day, etc). I called my midwife about them one day, since they did not seem to ease up much unless I was moving around or in the water. And she said that the difference is that they eased up at all. She said that even being in the water, they would have continued if I was truly in preterm labor. She said nothing would have stopped that progression if it were the case.

Thankfully, mine were not burning-type, just cramping like the labor pains I had with Liam. But they were pretty irregular (like you mentioned, they would go away and come back) and eventually eased up entirely.

Next time you go to the doc, I would mention this episode though, just in case they want to check your cervix or make sure you are not at a greater risk for preterm labor. Thankfully, mine had no effect on my body and have only happened twice, so I think I am okay for not having this baby too early. But with you being 6 weeks behind me, I would just want to ensure that nothing was happening physically with the dilation from that episode.

Hopefully it doesn't happen again for you. I know it is pretty scary and it sounds like you were in a lot of pain while it was happening.

I hope you get some relief. I've never had BH nor do I know what going into labor feels like. My kids had to be evicted medically. I don't really have any advice.

With Collin and Thomas I just knew they were BH. With Bailey they were so intense I couldn't tell the difference. Let's just say I called my ob very very often. What I was told was, if you aren't 100% sure, just call. That's why they are there.
