How often do you indulge your kids?

For example, if your LO asks for something frivolous (snack, toy, clothing item, etc), but well within your budget, do you buy it? How often do you go to the store and come home with something for your kids for no specific reason?

Almost never here. Anytime I go into a store I have just enough for what I am there for. The last time the kids got a "splurge" was me picking up a $1 pack of water balloons. They haven't received a new toy, book, or piece of clothing since Easter.

Each time Tom takes a kid shopping he let's them pick out what snacks we are getting out of certain choices but we always have snacks in the house so I don't count this..

Um.. yesterday. LOL
Usually every time we go to the store, they get something. Usually just something small, a book or stickers or something from the $ section or special Popsicles, etc..
Might be a pair of shoes.. something Snow White we find that Em doesn't have, etc...

pretty much every time. Which i wish we didnt do because money is SOOO tight. (I owe just my mom for example $600 because she helped pay on my car so it wouldnt get repoed.) It was never more than $10 for somethign and now we try to either A not take her with us, B make it fast so she doesnt go to the toy section (its gotten to the point where ill put her down and she knows WHERE the toys are) or C we try to find a small $ toy (which is super hard! lol)

Half and half sometimes a small toy but if I do get her something most of the time it is like a new sippy cup ( which she needs) and just let her pick it out. Lately not at all because I know her birthday is coming up and shorty after Christmas so I try not to add to the amour of toys she already has

I would say about 50% of the time. If it is something like a snack that I would buy anyway, it plays double-duty. But one-in-four trips I will get something like a matchbox car or a new book. It is really bad when my mom is with us. She has to buy something every time. Thankfully Liam has not made the connection between stuff and stores yet. So he is still tickled to get something, as though he did not expect it. I am more of a sucker than he is for getting me to buy something. I like to indulge him. Julia is on the same "plan" and it seems to keep the greed down. She knows she does not get something everytime, but also gets super-excited when she does get something new.

Depends on how well they behave. If they behave well enough they stand a greater chance of getting something at the end of the outing. I'm kind of mean like that. My mother buys Jasmine something new every time she sees her and its annoys me like mad.

Were bad... too often. Usually its under a couple bucks... tonight she got chapstick in the dollar section at Target
( after taking about 10 minutes to decide what she wanted - shes good about putting things back if she changes her mind, or putting whatever it is back if she is all done looking at it)

My mom is BAD though... Every time. Just thinking off hand... She wanted to get her one of those "Fur Real" toys that makes pet sounds and walks and stuff... Tried to get her to choose between a couple and since Ty kept changing her mind... got them ALL. Shes super spoiled by Gma.

Not alot. If they have been super good they will get a treat. I just don't want to start that they expect something everytime we go to the store.

Saturday was the last time they got something special.
