Sorry my entire newsfeed say that.

Our Kristen I think is the closest to the epicenter. So far no damage reported in DC

So who did feel it? I didn't but Tom did, people in the same room as him at work were knocked off their bakers and stilts, basic bumps but no real injuries, so I got worried about those closer....

My girlfriend in WV felt it. Said the building shook.

Right now only damage I've heard about is the National Shrine in DC has had some things broken in the top tower. They are saying the Washington Monument might be leaning too.

I like how on the news they were kind of ignoring DC and making it about NYC.....and gee no damage in NYC. Surprise, surprise lol!

that;s what the Nat. coverage is doing? All I'm hearing about is Downtown New Haven and our state capital...

Oh yeah it's totally being made all about NYC. I'm on Twitter and my newsfeed is hysterical right now. Everyone is laughing about how the stations are showing the NYC skyline like they are expecting something to happen and they keep reporting that there seems to be no damage in Manhattan and that the tourists are unfazed.

I know it's an earthquake and not a funny thing, but some of these jokes are making me cry I'm laughing so hard. One in particular was 'geez...even the earthquakes are leaving CA!'. Lol. Get it? Cause people and businesses are fleeing the state like crazy.

ROFL.

A local kick *** meteorologist who was fired started his own FB page a while ago, these are the recent status updates by him and he did the real coverage (what happened, no damages, etc)

Earthquake Theory: This is what happens when you critically pan the movie "2012".

Earthquake theory: This is what happens before Irene.

Earthquake theory: This is what happens when Dr. Mel retires. (long time on air meteorologist)

Earthquake theory: This is what happens when the Tea Party fights back.

Earthquake theory: this is what happens when you make false headlines about Will and Jada Pinkett Smith seperating.

Earthquake theory: This is what happens when you don't take Ron Paul seriously in the Iowa straw poll.

Earthquake theory: That must be one helluva Kardashian honeymoon.

Earthquake theory: This is what happens when Americans over eat.

Someone else posted this: "Dear DC area, The west coast natives are laughing at you right now. Grow a pair, would ya?"

and this:
"More pictures of the utter destruction in DC. Someone is going to have to pick all those up. I can't even imagine."

They are just hyping it all up.. I was in the earth quake that hit Seattle a few years back. The news hyped it up so much, it was a bit ridiculous..

Nicole those are hysterical!

Quakes are definitely felt differently in different parts of the country. Like back 2 Easters ago I was at a get together at my hubby's boss' house that was when the 7.0 hit in Mexico right around the MX-US border. Where we were we felt nothing, but just 15 miles away in Sherman Oaks the water was sloshing in pools and everyone felt it. A 7.0 is huge so naturally the shocks would make it up here. If we had a 5.9 100 miles away some would feel it some wouldn't. It's weird how the earth is just different and they are felt by more and in greater distances back east. We have 2.2 quakes all the time. I've yet to feel anything. We had a 4.9 out in the desert last year and hubby felt it briefly, but I was out of town. Ok enough earthquake rambling lol. I probably should be out buying more emergency water!

We tend to have a lot of small tremors but nothing major. Glad everyone is ok.
