Sorry gals, I am FULL of questions today! How the heck do I safely store milk (refrigerated) for transport (7-8 hrs)?

I'm so stressed. We have to go to Frankfurt (3 hr drive each way) to the US embassy for Jaxon's birth report, passport and SSN this Friday. Of course the only appt they had was at 9:30 am, so we have to leave at the crack of dawn to get through rush hour traffic.

I have a insulated lunch box that takes one of those ice packs, but would that be too cold for refrigerated milk? Plus, any ideas on how to warm it on the road? He will drink room temp milk, but spits out cold milk.

Are you breast or formula feeding? I formula fed mine and what i would always do was fill the bottles with warm water to whatever amount of ounces they would eat and take the can of formula with me too. That way when its time to make a bottle its there and its the perfect temp and all you do is add formula and they can eat. Thats what worked best for me as a formula feeding mother. Now if you are taking breast milk then i honestly have no idea at all as i have never been in that situation.

the lunch box with ice packs is what I've always used. I would take half of it frozen and half thawed - by the end of the day the frozen ones will be close to melted most likely.

for warming I'm not sure....

Yeah, it's breastmilk. I wish we could just pull over to nurse, but he is still not into that, lol.

well maybe just take it out of the fridge and use the ice packs to keep it cold and say maybe about 45minutes or so before you know he would be ready to eat (if he eats a at a certain time) then take some out for him and let it warm up for a bit just sitting there before you give it to him.

I don't know that you will find one over there but a friend of mine has a bottle warmer that plugs into the car. She loves it and says it works pretty well, I think she got hers at Walmart and I know they sell them at Babies R Us.

For warming, maybe you could just take out a defrosted one, sit on the bottle, rub it between your hands, that kind of thing until it warms up to room temp or higher?

I have seen car adapter bottle warmers (they're like insulated bottle blankets that plug into your car jack) too, so they do exist.
